Bombing US cities, changing names of things, hinting at big mysterious stuff, flagrant lies. Everyday the goal is to 'win the news cycle.' It does not matter that it's stupid insane stuff. Just like a naughty five year old, any attention is better than no attention. When media runs with breathless 'look what he said' pieces, it just feeds the beast. Of course given his position they can't just ignore it. We're all trapped in this nuthouse. It's exhausting, and that's the point. To wear us down.

Good question... Why is media not reporting on this 128 day Albanian protest of Kushner and Ivanka's insane corruption?

Video Clip: Massive Pro Lula Rallies In Brazil Massive pro-Lula and anti-Bolsonaro rallies continue nonstop in Brazil. They do not want to fall into a Bolsonaro regime. The stakes could not be higher. h/t Dems Might

Video Clip: Candidate for US Senate TX James Talarico “Why do we have a trillionaire when veterans are sleeping on the streets? The reason poverty exists is not because we can’t feed the poor, it’s because we can’t satisfy the rich.” h/t The Tennessee Holler

Video Clip: Jon Stewart on AI “So in the FUTURE we WILL use A.I. to cure diseases… but right now it’s mostly murder, surveillance, and surge pricing for the McRib — What a trade! I’m getting the sense you guys might be full of shit.” h/t The Tennessee Holler

RE: https://universeodon.com/@GreetingsOut/117396661589380238 Apparently they are intending FOR THE FIRST TIME IN DECADES to bar international election monitors. This can not be allowed!

@nixCraft@mastodon.social Absolutely. Saw elsewhere a recommendation to push back against the term 'rogue agent' as it anthropomorphizes and confers agency. Much better to call it what it is 'malware'.

Folks, feel like we are kind of missing the mark here with this Ed Sheeran Macklemore stuff. Sure, Sheeran deserves to be canceled, but the more appropriate boycot targets are MAGA billionaire Robert Kraft and the other stadium owners attempting to use their power to censor those who perform at their venues.

This is how you do it...

Brazil Election Results Note: This is the first round. There will be a runoff if neither candidate get >50% Pretty much final... Bolsonaro 47.25% Lula 44.91% Runoff Election October 25

Not going to post the video. This stuff goes on and on everyday... Trump: "We've gonna shove it up their ass ... They are a bunch of dumb son of a bitches"

Want some good news? All the news seems so bleak. Everything seems to be how the billionaires in business and government just keep inventing new ways to rip us off. Well, what are we going to do about it? VOTE! Race To The Whitehouse prediction of the Democrats taking the Senate rose by 2% this week to 72%. The chance of taking the House rose by 3% to 88% Accountability is coming. VOTE! VOTE! VOTE! #WeThePeople

Headline you won't see... Starship limps up to orbit with an engine failure. Ends flight early with hard landing and explodes. The booster suffers multiple engine failures trying to return.

@Chancerubbage@mastodon.social @KimPerales@toad.social 86% chance Dems take the House and by a significant majority. https://www.racetothewh.com/house/

@KimPerales@toad.social Race to the WH has Dems now with a greater than 70% chance of taking the Senate... https://www.racetothewh.com/senate/26

Quit Google Maps and switched to Mapquest today. Also experimenting with OsmAnd. We have options. We don't need to support fascist enablers.

@btschumy@mas.to @zrb@social.hildebrind.space @emilymbender@dair-community.social AI poses no existential threat that sensible regulation and severe criminal and financial penalties for corporate executives won't cure. Any unchecked industrial development poses dangers. The error is in accepting we have no agency over safeguarding society.

Let's be clear, when AI executives raise alarms and call for 'regulation', they are not in fact asking to be regulated. They are trying to get ahead of the much needed and inevitable oversight of their industry through 'regulatory capture.' Think of the current FCC which censors Jimmy Kimmel and rubber stamps Musk's Starlink orbital contagion. What we need is comprehensive effective regulation of our digital infrastructure with harsh financial and criminal penalties for these miscreants.

Spotted in the wild... "I bet it hurts like hell to be called a spineless little bitch by Mrs. Rachel."

You've got to hand it to these guys. They have people simultaneously believing that AI is both the salvation and the apocalypse. Feel like we have seen this movie before. 🤷

Employing an air pollution analogy, we are currently in the 1960s version of regulation of our digital infrastructure. This is not inevitable or necessarily permanent. Effective regulation can secure a brighter future, but we need to summon the resolve, pass laws and enforce them with harsh criminal penalties for corporate executives who continue to poison our digital environment.

Oh look, Mapquest also still has the correct name for the Gulf of Mexico...

Super Official Pronouncement By the power vested in us, the Internet Users of the World, we hereby declare that as of this date forward the name Google has officially been changed to Evil in each and every occurance of the word. It is no longer allowed to refer to products like Evil Maps, Evil Mail, Evil Docs and Evil Photos using their former names. Thank you very much for you attention to this matter.

Let's get this straight. They built software that can hack into other software and mess it up, and that is somehow going to end human civilization. And, now they are saying there is nothing they can do. It is totally out of control. Give them more money.

@benroyce@mastodon.social @Rgsharpe@sfba.social @Fou_ad@mastodon.world @the_power@mastodon.social @axolotl@kolektiva.social Sputtering fools. There is a powerful progressive political insurgency within the Democratic Party. This is our best chance right now. Vote.

Precisely! Gross negligence at the very least. Nicholas Grossman: Computer crimes are already illegal. I do not think “we knowingly deployed software we can’t control” is a legitimate defense against break those laws.

Shout out tonight to Macklemore, whose character, bravery and unflinching honesty are a bright light in this time of darkness. https://youtu.be/hlVBg7_08n0

@Pineywoozle@masto.ai @QasimRashid@mastodon.social 💯 The worst centrist Dem is infinitely better than any GOP candidate. Vote.

Are you kidding! So done with these centrist schmucks.

@noplasticshower@infosec.exchange @btschumy@mas.to @zrb@social.hildebrind.space @emilymbender@dair-community.social Great article. Particularly like where you point out that the current incidents under scrutiny are really bad actors employing AI for nefarious purposes. And, even in hypothetical cases where something were to run amuck, those who create the monster need to be held accountable. Using environmental pollution regulation as a framework is a good place to start. https://mastodon.online/@mastodonmigration/117275480471867859

The Stakes: Senate Democratic Party Leadership As we move through the last of these primary elections with unprecedented PAC spending against progressive candidates, and in favor of Schumer aligned corporate Democrats, it is useful to understand the national implications. Many think that the Schumer, DNC centrists have a lock on power, but the opposite is actually true. If progressives continue to win it is virtually certain that Senate Democratic Party leadership will change.

Most recent polling in the Michigan Democratic Senate Primary has Abdul El-Sayed up +10 over Haley Stevens and the polling average up +8

@gypsyvegan@sfba.social Great sign!

RE: https://mastox.eu/@BernieSanders/117009412125169439 This is exactly right. First, Juliana Stratton won in IL despite enormous spending against her. In Maine, no amount of spending could sway voters from nominating a progressive. Now in Michigan the billionaires and PACs are pulling out all the stops. What if taking big money ceases to be an advantage and turns into a liability? What if #WeThePeople are waking up?

@springdiesel@spore.social 😄 Don't think that is exactly what she said. "Ed Sheeran had an opportunity [to] show that we won't be bullied into punishing people for supporting Palestine... Instead he caved to people who refuse to accept what the world knows. A genocide is happening in Gaza. We all need to speak out against it." https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/celebrities/2026/09/15/ms-rachel-ed-sheeran-macklemore-tour-free-palestine/91772843007/

RE: https://sfba.social/@gypsyvegan/117007005699618094 This is an awesome guide and point by point rebuttle to the upcoming multi-multi-million dollar, billionaire funded GOP smear campaign coming Troy Jackson's way. #WeThePeople have your back, Troy!

Another important messaging technique to use for dealing with this kind of BS, is Lakoff's 'truth sandwich'

Truth Sandwich:

1. Start with the truth. The first frame gets the advantage.
2. Indicate the lie. Avoid amplifying the specific language if possible.
3. Return to the truth. Always repeat truths more than lies.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth_sandwich

Definitely agree that the article could be organized better with regard to truth sandwich methodology.

@michaelgemar@cosocial.ca @AkaSci@fosstodon.org The booster is expensive, sure. But they have always been able to reuse boosters. The entire premise of Starship is to bring the ship back intact and rapidly reuse it.

@minmi@sfba.social Are they now rampaging all over the playground taking the other kids toys?

@Nonilex@masto.ai Hope springs eternal, but feel like we have seen this movie before.

@joeinwynnewood@mstdn.social @gypsyvegan@sfba.social Fair enough. However, in this case perhaps some amount of pre-buttle is helpful. In particular, for those who will be fending off the onslaught. When the water bottle nonsense started being pushed, found it helpful to already have been aware that it was an old discredited line of attack. Glad to have the heads up on some of these prospective gotchas.

@indivisibleteam@mastodon.social Blocking international election monitors. He definitely intends to cheat like hell.
