Great project and they are making a #FEP (https://fediverse.codeberg.page/fep/fep/d8c8/) to allow #BitTorrent data types in #activitypub - cool!

@h@poster.place true, and it could affect on premise builds too if you don't realise.
Another way could be host the software in a different country if you are that worried about it.
Still, we shouldn't let it get to this, we need to stand up for our rights....

Anyone know what happened to #beatport?
Some of my bought tracks are missing, and the crappy FAQ, last updated 4 months ago says:
"As we continue expanding and restoring the full catalog on Beatport, you may temporarily notice some tracks in your playlists showing as unavailable. We know how important playlist reliability is for DJs, and restoring this content is one of our highest priorities."
Did some of their drives die or something???
Oh well, it's a reminder for everyone not to trust the cloud alone....

@thisislieven@c.im @malteengeler@legal.social Thank you for the article.
As much as I don't want to promote the network that I never want to be part of, the article doesn't mention that ID verification isn't mandatory to use the service, only to have your content "boosted"/"promoted", whatever that means.

You make a very good point about the "Homer Simpson" handle. This is rather silly for someone who has a big stake in the company.
If nothing else, look what happened to the band Muse on Twitter and Instagram: https://www.engadget.com/2254419/muse-the-band-lost-its-social-media-handles-to-muse-meta-s-new-ai-agent/

@anthropy@mastodon.derg.nz Nice!
I like the MorningStar charge controllers, but you can only add 1 string to each one, and they aren't cheap :(
Because I struggle to find 1 large area for all my panels, I have 5 different arrays, with 5 of these charge controllers.
This is not ideal, and not very cost-effective, but the controllers don't need a stupid app, and have a LAN port so i can easily log statistics :)

@hnbot@mastodon.chrispelli.fun "Web security is made hard by morons" more like.
I bet a lot fewer people would be taken in by scams if people just used sub domains for everything, as the guy mentions.
It's been like this since the start of being able to pay for things over the internet - the first time I paid for something I thought I was being scammed, as I was passed through several domains that had nothing to do with the original company, and were companies I'd never heard of before.
It's not surprising people don't pay attention to these things. There are so many middlemen with stupid names that I (let alone normies) have never heard of, even now...

@agowa338@chaos.social I rate wireguard - I use it for all my vpn needs at home.
I don't know how suitable it is for big orgs - the management UIs aren't great, but it's SO much easier to set up in small environments, and works through NAT.
Windows, Linux, Raspian and android clients are all very stable, only need about 4 lines in a config, and a public/private keypads.
When I tried and OpenVPN server about 20 years ago, it was seriously complicated.

@fonecokid@c.im my other half (who's South Korean) watched an interview with someone about this today, and they gave quite a few reasons why the South Korean Government wouldn't be sending troops etc:
They sent their own advisors to check out the situation, and basically found it was so much of a shit-show they didn't want to be involved.
Budget that was supposed to be kept for medical evacuation helicopters at various bases had been used for other things, so some of the injured soldiers that could bave been evacuated to specialist medical facilities had to be treated in local (non-US) countries instead because the equipment and personnel were not available.
They also reckon that some of the bases that were destroyed we kind of done on purpose (or could have been saved?) to hide evidence of strikes against civilian infrastructure (like that school at the start of the war), so that the leaders cannot be charged with war crimes.
Crazy shit. I've not heard any of this mentioned in Western media about the reasons South Korea doesn't want to be involved, other than it was unpopular with their population.

This Thursday (8th October) it's #NetMCR (https://www.netmcr.uk/) in #Manchester from 7pm!
At the moment there's no scheduled talk, so if you feel like giving one yourself, feel free to propose it 😀
Even if there's no talk, it will be nice to meet some like-minded individuals, try some interesting 🍺, and if you're hungry, 🍔 and 🍟!

Tonight it's #NetMCR (https://www netmcr.uk/) in #Manchester at the Northern Monk pub (https://www.northernmonk.com/pages/northern-monk-refectory-manchester) from 7pm!
"For our September meetup, we’ve a short talk and space for more if you’re keen to offer something on the night:
- Lightning talk: Tim Wilkes, ‘An intro to the NICC’s Open Forum’*
- Just a quick overview of the NICC’s Open Forum and why it might be of interest to attend, later this year."
Go and chat with some nice people, have some weird 🍻, and if you're hungry, 🍔 and 🍟!

@thisislieven@c.im @malteengeler@legal.social And now to contradict what I found a few months ago, on https://denys.dev/w-mythology-vol1/ there is a quote saying "You may browse all public content without verification. Posting, commenting, messaging, and interacting with other users requires identity verification.", which isn't the same as what the video says. 🤷
Just to be more annoying, like X is now, you can't even read anything unless you have an account, which is pretty lame.
