Which Mastodon instances could I recommend to electronic music artists new to the Fediverse? I have met several in the past weeks thanks to Electre Selecteh, most of them went directly to mastodon.social and, well, I don't think it's the best place to start. Much better a smaller and more focused instance with a nice local timeline. In English, but good to know about other default languages. If I get a useful list I will add it to https://electre.selecteh.org/about/

Are you kidding? I just wanted to search something on the Sequential / Oberheim forum. Search, not even post. And I get a Captcha (which I solved) plus 10 kind of insider questions (which I though that were, dunno, an insider joke). 😂 😂 😅

@daseinslaborant@berlin.social This makes total sense (now that you say it). I knew I was opening a can of worms (I mean delicious Saure Glühwürmchen) when I decided to get the Drumbeam, a couple of sticks, and a cymbal stand to my humble home studio. 😅

Someone asked about the feeling of the Drumbeam's surface, and whether it was bouncing. The sticks bounce but I haven't played real drums nor drum pads, so I cannot compare. It feels robust, mechanical, natural.
I ran a test, first grabbing each stick with only two fingers and letting them bounce as freely as I could. Then doing the same but exerting just a bit of force. Here is a screenshot where you can see the notes of the left and right hands (panned because why not) and the velocities.

First you spend time and money to get a perfectly clean recording of the vocals for your song.
Then you spend more time and more money to add the textures and effects that make the vocals sound natural, even dirty when not distorted.

@daseinslaborant@berlin.social Boah! I wasn't expecting to find more Drumbeam users here! Thank you for confirming my first impressions.
I have a question, if you don't mind. I don't plan to play an actual drum set but I'm looking forward to improve my dexterity with the sticks and learn more about rhythms altogether. Do you think the Drumbeam can act as a decent practice pad, even if the form factor is different?
