The story was the Soul Asylum just signed to A&M (Herb Alpert is the “A” in A&M), and they released this EP as the last on theit Twin/Tone contract.
Herb was reportedly so angry he ordered zero promotion for Soul Asylum. Two great records & they were dropped. Then Soul Asylum hit it big on Sony.

When i worked newspapers n the 1990s, classified ads represented 55-60% of the newspaper's ad revenue. This is the classified section of today's #DenverPost.
None of the larger ads are paid. They are Denver Post promos used to fill space.

@bosak@flx.masto.host Was “sucks” a term in 1969? I don’t recall it wntering the playground until the mid-70s. But the. Again, California used to get everything first back in the day. We vacationed in our Winnebago to California in 1970 & were amazed at the cereal brands in the stores that we didn’t have yet in Indiana. It was Count Chocula, I believe.

To the extent that vibe coding is a democratizing force—anyone with an idea can make & host their own web tools—we will see the next genuine communication innovations will come from this space. The next Steve Jobs will leverage A.I. coding tools the way the first Steve Jobs leveraged the microprocessor.
