mastodon 4.7.3Christian heretic. Half-assed mystic. Interfaith. Former atheist. Devoutly spiritual but can have a sense of humour about it (up to a point).
I have a variety of interests and will engage on many different topics, but most of my own posts will promote spiritual ideas and ideals.
Straight, cis, middle-aged Canadian man. Non-bigot. We're all one human family.
If I don't follow you - even if you follow me - don't be offended. My feed is tightly curated to keep negative feelings to a minimum.
-ran into one of my favourite soup kitchen patrons while I was out for a walk and chatted for 15 minutes or so. He told me something he doesn't tell many people, so I did the same.
-got another free bus ride, and my response to the situation made the bus driver laugh
-my body, mind, and spirit all had some activity today
-the spiritual beliefs of the person I'm closest to are largely compatible with mine, especially where it matters most
-a neighbour who I've known for 40 years and who mostly keeps to himself seemed happy to talk to me today, and I was happy to talk to him
-some of the employees at the stores I visited today were good to me, despite having thankless jobs. (I thanked them.)
At the grocery store, you have to put a coin in the shopping cart to release it. It's a pain when you don't have a coin with you, so I started grabbing stray carts that I find in the parking lot and bringing them in for people who need them.
Today I saw a volunteer from the soup kitchen at the store, looking a little lost because he didn't have a buck for the cart. I rolled my stray in front of him without announcing myself and then quickly walked away. He got a free cart without realizing it was me who gave it to him.
If my interactions on Mastodon ever seem disjointed...
(1) I'm a disjointed kinda guy
(2) with the web app on the phone, when I type a reply, only the first few lines of what I'm replying to are visible. So I have to go back and forth between your message and the one I'm trying to type. It gets disorienting. (Sometimes I'll actually copy the whole message into my notes app and type the reply under it so that I can see everything at once.)
This makes me want to throw up. Pretty please, pull your heads out of your asses.

I just came across that term, "egregor," while watching one of those paranormal investigations shows. I had never heard it before you mentioned it.
Last night I dreamed I was enjoying walking around a city, exploring. Some guy was kinda with or around me. I liked him but was wary to engage too much, for fear of losing my freedom (which is how I am in real life).
Later in the dream I'm flying, and he's with me. It's a lot of fun, but intense. I'm not totally confident I can handle it and am now relying on my previously arms-length companion to keep things in check.
Seems full of meaning but I can't quite grasp it.
I'm doing some experimenting and want to know if there is a way a bash script can be executed every time a specific folder is closed graphically.
Basically, I want to trigger a sequence of events when a user is finished working in Specific_Folder and clicks the X to close it, every time.
Is it possible to specify the state of a directory in an if statement, or in bash scripting in general?
I don't like being faceless and using a pseudonym. But at the same time, the internet is forever and, especially now, there are forces scraping every tiny tidbit they can to build the most complete profiles they can, on as many people as possible. I want no part of that.
I only created my account to win a contest and didn't anticipate making connections with people on here. 🤔
Bifocals. Thoughts? (From wearers only, please.)
"...the application of self in a material plane is purposeful; not merely a chance but each day, each association, each activity is an opportunity for the expression of that which is the ideal of the soul."
