Skylab was the United States' first space station, launched by NASA in 1973 and occupied for 24 weeks between 1973 and 1974. It was manned by three crews and included a solar observatory and Earth observation equipment. Skylab conducted numerous experiments before disintegrating in the atmosphere in 1979, with debris landing in the Indian Ocean and Western Australia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skylab
