When you make excuses for unacceptable behavior, you get more of it, and eventually, you end up with someone like Trump, who wouldn't know a moral compass if you hit him on the head with one. We need a fresh start based on honesty, transparency, and community spirit. It's time to reinvent the US from the ground up, with far less materialism and far more inclusion.

@oblomov@sociale.network ocrmypdf works great, or at least as well as anything else does on a scanned document. But, it can only "see" the text itself, not the format. And even then, the text isn't necessarily in the order that it appears in on the page.

It doesn't help matters that I'm working on scans. I can OCR them, but the structure of the resulting text is divided up in truly bizarre ways.

@tedel@writing.exchange I have, that's what I use. It does a good job with the text, just not the formatting. Pandoc will not convert from PDF. There's a very specific error message saying so.

@mcspocky@mstdn.party We should not consider the 25th Amendment a viable solution. It assumes far too much independence and critical thought on the part of the Vice President and Cabinet. If they were concerned with the rule of law, they wouldn't have made it into Trump's inner circle in the first place.
