Newcomer to Canada and Brexit refugee. Love Nova Scotia's amazing nature and landscapes. Share with me your experiences of the Maritimes. More political posting than I'd like, because the world needs it right now.

@MadeMeSmile@mastodon.social amazing pictures. I think they may be slime moulds, which are one of the most extraordinary life forms on earth. Much of a slime mould's life is single celled like an amoeba, then they come together and spore, many species looking like tiny toadstools. Amazing pics - thanks for sharing. #SlimeMouldSaturday #SlimeMoldSaturdayhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slime_mold

This image from the Guardian... 🤣🤣🤣
for those not following UK politics, Nigel Farage has resigned his parliamentary seat - a stunt designed to frustrate corruption investigations. Farage is hoping to be reelected again, but no parties are standing against him. This leave's Count Binface as the leading candidate against him.

This is the sort of "nation building project" that Carney is creating when he decides what we Canadians really need are new oil pipelines which will make the wildfires worse.
Homes destroyed in Northern Ontario, toxic air in Toronto. #climatebreakdown #fossilfuelgenocide

Ever since Dyson backed Brexit - because he believed it would mean he could cut labour protections- I've been telling people to boycott Dyson.
I moved to Canada following Brexit, and my message #DontBuyDyson has a new audience. But more people need to know about his role in UK disastrous COVID.

@tompearce49@mastodon.scot when our political leaders say "net zero by 2050" what they mean is that the floods, heat waves, wildfire and crop failures are not bad enough yet: they want them to be much worse before the case for stopping fossil fuel pollution stacks up.

@GossiTheDog@cyberplace.social ah KPMG! - the auditors that signed of HBOS's accounts six months before that bank crashed entirely. The same KPMG whose senior partners forged meeting minutes to which helped hide the collapse of Carillion on their watch. But they faced a £2B lawsuit from the creditors.
A living example of "but who audits the auditors?"

@ceartas@mastodon.world @ai6yr@m.ai6yr.org that's exactly what the Russians used to say about their inexhaustible Siberian tank stores.
More recently, the Russians have been using donkeys for cavalry charges on Ukrainian positions.

...except Chumbawamba were not a one hit wonder. By the time I first heard them in 1986, they already had 2 albums thatt reached #2 in the UK indie charts ("Pictures of Starving Children Sell Records" and "Never Mind the Ballots"). By the time they broke up in 2012, they had 7 UK hit singles and 15 albums.
Always an avowedly anarchist band, they were never interested in topping the charts, only interested in promoting radical politics and entertaining people in the process.

@Esoteria@social.horrorhub.club 😃 ...but those lyrics would have been a curse if from a one hit wonder (and yes Tubthumper was by far their biggest seller).
The song is really a statement about the resilience of working class people in the face of all the efforts for the powerful and wealthy to diminish them.

@virtuous_sloth@cosocial.ca the problem with your question is you seem to assume The Messiah™ thought this through in any way, and is not just saying whatever impulse his reptilian brain can come up.
