Scarab (Sarah)
mastodon 4.5.18I cook, I cherish, I sing, I dance, I DevOps. Old-timer from USENET days (different handle then). Occasional guest podcaster speaking on SFF books (and would also talk happily about SFF audio drama).
I listened to a 2025 episode of "Criminal" which discussed a legal precedent about who gets to decide who lives and dies, and the *process* for deciding that. https://thisiscriminal.com/episode-337-the-custom-of-the-sea-10-24-2025/
I was reminded of this post & article I recently boosted.
I understand the Bastille Day celebrations. One good thing a King and a Bonaparte did, a day and some 37 years afterwards. Not Napoleon. His brother Joseph, who abolished the Spanish Inquisition and retired later to New Jersey.

I mostly go by @Configures@mindly.social (different host) these days, but I had a good time discussing this anthology with Shaun!
This 2025 episode of *History Happy Hour* looks at the history beyond the Black Hawk Down headlines, including mismanagement and lessons unfortunately not learned or applied: "Insurgency in Somalia: Guest: Jonathan Carroll"
