@perlman In a time increasing darkness in the digital realm, of increased #surveillance, #privacy erosion, and #enshittification , this development is a ray of refreshing sunshine.

@william_shotts@mstdn.social Does this mean distros built on Ubuntu, such as #linuxmint , will inherit AI co-authored code?
“Regarding whether or not we should ship code that was co-authored by an AI - in reality we will be doing this.”

@ahasty@techhub.social I’ve been pondering a similar notion . I’m slowly going through the material on Linux From Scratch site.

@GrapheneOS@grapheneos.social @truhe@chaos.social I, for one, am grateful for your exposition here on Mastodon. I’d rather see inline discussion and engagement than a link fest to position statements.

@tchambers@indieweb.social This is a worthwhile thought experiment. While many of us bemoan the current state of AI, and it is atrocious in many ways, there is no putting the genie back in the bottle. The mythic tale of Pandora’s Box is enduring because it transcends time and place. We can shout “No AI” until we’re hoarse, and it will change little. The key question is can we transform it into something more beneficial to humanity, and not the jumble of corporate dystopian nonsense it predominately is now?

@tinker@infosec.exchange Considering the abysmal economics of it all, that they burn through far more money than they make, also indicates there are motivations other than pure profit.

@Kate_Koda@mastodon.social @molly0xfff@hachyderm.io Yes. Physical media is the way to go, where possible. Lacking that, digital downloads are superior to streaming. Setup a home NAS.
