@VeroniqueB99@mastodon.social Truth. I let a pigeon nest her two eggs in my roof terrace. Two very ugly hatchlings took off after a few weeks, left me to clean a small pile of toothpicks glued together with droppings. 2/5 not recommended.

@staff@mastodon.social no longer a newcomer here and missing both the local and federated feeds. Would love to have them back. When I was a newcomer I didn't mind unmoderated content on those. Didn't expect moderation at the firehose.

@danstowell@mastodon.social Lovely word. Good of you to share it. Coincidentally I just did that with my brother and his family, who I've not seen for a year, in the actual Netherlands. :)

@JustFrank I occasionally remind myself of kind words said to me at exactly the right time 15 years ago. I should call that person up and thank them, even though it would be very very awkward.

If you're using #Postman for #API development and testing, consider Bruno as an alternative. https://www.usebruno.com #Bruno is cross-platform, offline-only, privacy-focused and requires no sign-up or login. All your API collections are stored as files on your local drive for you to (optionally) share via your favorite source control. It's free for open source work and reasonably priced otherwise. I highly recommend it - I'm not affiliated with it in any way.

Bruno - The Git-Native API Client

Bruno is the Git-native API client for REST, GraphQL, gRPC and Websocket. A local and open-source solution to Postman. Fast, developer-first, and no cloud syncing.

@sahouraxo@mastox.eu does Le Monde qualify as western media? https://www.lemonde.fr/en/middle-east-crisis/article/2026/04/24/un-peacekeeper-dies-of-wounds-suffered-in-lebanon-last-month_6752789_368.html In that same article: "The following day, two more Indonesian blue helmets were killed by an improvised explosive device. The same UN investigation found that Hezbollah was likely responsible. Indonesia has already urged the UN to launch a thorough investigation into both incidents." How telling that you do not mention this at all.

@BoydStephenSmithJr@hachyderm.io @a2_4am@mastodon.social I am saying that we need a browser that is a product paid for directly by its users. If #Mozzila offered a version of #Firefox that respected privacy and net neutrality and shunned AI, for a monthly fee, I'd pay it.

@aeva@mastodon.gamedev.place @Greg@social.coop Yes. Thanks for pointing that out. All filament printers have their quirks. The FlashForge I got tends to clog on cheaper filament material and that requires screwdriver skills. I hear other makes and models have similar issues. I've been told resin printers are not for beginners. The materials are toxic and require careful handling and ventilation, if I understand correctly.

@Greg@social.coop Hi. Beginner here too. Prusa wins because they are open-source and have a large and supportive community. You'll want the latest basic model, which is called "mk4s". It comes either pre-assembled or as a kit for you to assemble (cheaper). #3dprinting

@Greg@social.coop And a 3rd option is the Bambu Labs A1 Combo. The "Combo" part is a stand that can hold 4 different filament rolls and let's you print a model in 4 different colors in one go. Not exactly a beginner feature but I think it's very attractive. You can get it without the Combo and add that later. All 3 models are new, fast and easy to get started with. Enjoy! And feel free to ask anything. :) #3dprinting

@Greg@social.coop I, however, went with a FlashForge Adventurer 5M Pro because it's more available in my country, is cheaper, and comes in an enclosure (it prints inside a box, basically). My son and I are enjoying it very much. 1st print was out in under 30 minutes from opening the box. Lovely. #3dprinting

@dogposting I'll answer from personal experience: peer pressure and fear of dealing with tantrums.

All their friends have it. It's a social game. With playing outside having become dangerous, and the general exhaustion of life, screens have become a "safe" option.

They are not* and we are working hard on mitigating the damage with partial success.

  • the danger to social skills, concentration and general life skills is much greater than that of sexual predation.

How many bathrooms have Neanderthals in the tile?

A Reddit poster finds an ancient jaw in his parents' new travertine. It may be more common than most people imagine.

@catsalad@infosec.exchange unpopular opinion: remove all car horns, by law. Instead of "warning" people by sonically attacking them, drivers should drive slower and accept the fact that they need to occassionally, gasp, stop.
