@cR0w@infosec.exchange surely that's what nearly everyone will actually be doing, whether admitting it or not?

@davidgerard just like autopilot driving, no? Human not required to drive, but must remain in the seat with hands on the wheel paying the exact same amount of attention to everything at all times, ready to take over for when the AI gets it wrong. Yeah right!

@GossiTheDog thats a hell of a lot of resources going up in smoke for "entertainment". Perhaps we should go back to going to the pub and watching the telly.

@py2toz@mastodon.radio for me Meshtastic had nobody on it (working that is) and Meshcore is the opposite. No hate, no playground "mine is bestest", just how it was at the time.

RE: @DreamStationcc@mastodon.social

If you have to vote on what will work on backwards compatibility, backwards compatibility is not the thing you're talking about.

@Viss@mastodon.social does it tho. One reading suggests you may be unlucky to have been affected by few issues which have a chance of being sorted soon, another that everything is off and not coming back on.

Me: I'd like to try to use CarPlay pls.

Radio: ready.

Radio: Please wait (a stupidly long time... what could possibly be going on computers are FAAAAAST these days. Not like there's a 6502 handling some complicated sync)

Radio: sorry you must enable siri on the phone (bullshit #1 there's no legit reason for this)

Phone: no such option as Siri it's now called Apple intelligence (bullshit #2 there's also no legit reason for this) Me: OK enable it.

Phone: Will be enabled next time in WiFi coverage. (Bullshit #3 there at least should be an option to do it over cellular if you want)

Radio: OK still you cant have it. Even though you have enabled it (Bullshit #4 cos the phone is basivally saying Schrödinger's Siri enablement, it's on but it's also not)

Me: OK fuck all of this shit I'll use the phone as I was via old school Bluetooth.

Radio: nope nothing playing via bluetooth, even tho the sound is coming out of the radio and I'm STILL telling you that you can't enable CarPlay without Siri. And if you go into bluetooth audio it stops.

Phone: also if literally anything happens I will now also mute the music for a second and be silent for a sec when there clearly should be some sort of notification noise.

When did Apple stuff get this shit? It's all over the place.

@Wifiwits@infosec.exchange back the NAS periodically to a massive usb hard drive, and stash that well offsite. I have 3 in rotation so if there's an issue I can go back a few months and lose some stuff, but not all. For me that's mainly coverage against fire or burglary. Altho to be fair, I do also have the NAS backing up to another NAS.... I dunno that it's running 24x7 per-se, as it's usually in sleep mode, but it is powered on!

I see Claude has gone to a whole new level with the hallucinations, making shit up I never said in the prompt, arguing it to itself, acting upon it as if I said it, then reasoning it back out to me as part of it's response.

Makes the hallucination buried in the reasoning, rather than just out there in the response. Madness.

@manawyrm@chaos.social oldest I got to hand May 2000: Amiga 1200 with '030 and 18 meg ram. Connected to the internet via a PCMCIA card to a VSDL service straight into the ISP I worked for. CD-ROM, 2GB HD, airlink remote control thing (that controlled a sky box IIRC over the internet - the streaming was obviously not handled by the amiga!) uprated (old PC) PSU, prograb 24 frame grabber. External keyboard naturally, alongside a Philips CM8833-II sat on the desk. This open-heart-surgery pile of parts sat on a shelf to the side 😂. Beast of a machine, definitely a battle station, had the base A1200 since 1993, and repeatedly bolted stuff on, on a tight budget. It was starting to become difficult to use as the daily driver around then, but everything about it was great fun. nothing's been remotely such a pleasure to use since.
