People are upset at Google again. Of course Google added Gemini to Chrome. That should not surprise anyone. Why are you still using Chrome in 2026? Use Firefox and the good version of uBlock Origin.

@prahou@merveilles.town Everyone in this thread is likely interested in not seeing cookie banners to begin with. You can with uBlock Origin browser extension. https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock Install the addon, click on the icon, click on the gear, go to the Filter lists tab, click on the checkbox next to all of the four cookie notices lists, click on the Apply changes button, and close the settings tab. If you do not see the confusing questions and do not give consent, you will only receive essential cookies.

@moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org @briankrebs@infosec.exchange It would be relatively easy for the self-hosting community to add a list of c2 domains to their pi-hole to shut this down on their networks. It is less easy to identify all of the full names of the apks running on their network. I don't see a list so I might be making one tonight.

@briankrebs@infosec.exchange There are many C2 domains in these links. Has anyone compiled a list of these domains into a pi-hole compatible list?

I lost the proprietary drill charger. I eventually gave up searching and ordered a new one. Now where did I leave that drill?

I am also more likely to now dig through my old projects and start publishing other random scripts that I wrote as a one-off that never got the final polish.

With everything that is going on, does anyone else have the feeling that computing is not safe at the moment?

@monkeyninja@10base2.dev Sceptre is still making dumb TVs in recent years without the commercial pricing. They were sold through Walmart.com, but they seem to be no longer available. Not sure where you can buy them anymore. https://www.sceptre.com/

I got sidetracked learning Rust and left logreview-rs as WIP, but the process was generally positive for me. It got me thinking about logreview and ways to refactor. I made a significant optimization to logreview and now it is much faster and tells me the important information first. I can then copy the most frequently used IPs and look them up with my ip-to-asn-info.sh script. webservicewatcher.py now works too. Maybe I'll pickup logreview-rs again in the future. Maybe not. Trust the process.

A common thing that often happens is that a project will get almost done and then something else will come up. Publish incomplete projects! Maybe it will help someone else who is looking to not start with a blank text page. I am trying to eat my own dog food here. I wrote this python script last week, but I got side-tracked and did not finish. It mostly works, but needs a bit more polish and testing before I would feel comfortable removing the WIP phrase. https://github.com/TechnologyClassroom/WebServerWatcher

@chris@social.inzeiten.de @prahou@merveilles.town I use a slightly different approach to all-or-nothing. If the site intentionally breaks with uBlock Origin enabled, I block the site on my Pi Hole.

@moses_izumi@fe.disroot.org @briankrebs@infosec.exchange I updated an older relevant repository that I had for pi-hole filters with many of these C2 domains. If anyone else is using them with pi-hole or an alternative, they will get the update next time they refresh their lists. https://raw.githubusercontent.com/TechnologyClassroom/HOSTS/refs/heads/master/filters/spamsec.txt

@feld Not exactly, but I did learn that I have few more friends in Google than I previously thought. I shared what I have with the one that reached out. Thank you everyone for the boosts! I appreciate it.

@bingowings85 I found that I knew addition Google staff that I was unaware of and passed my findings to them to file internally. I have not heard back. The majority of the problem for us has been resolved, but generally Google has not patched the root problem that I highlighted. I'm not generally interested in fixing all of Google's many problems, but I will continue to speak out when I find their platforms are spreading abuse externally.

Be weary anytime someone tries to explain something to you as being magic. The magic of Magic Erasers is just microplastics.

@mitchconner@clubcyberia.co While Mozilla's management decisions are not perfect, it is very important to not put all of our browser eggs in one basket. Brave has made lots of great privacy moves and most of them are available on the Firefox side.

@970uts1d3@defcon.social I use Trisquel's abrowser most of the time which is a Firefox fork, but no one has ever heard of abrowser, librewolf, or any of the other Firefox forks and we'd would not have them if it were not for Mozilla. While Mozilla's management have made some questionable decisions, Firefox is still our best hope at building an alternative to Google Chrome.

@tdelmas@mamot.fr I have been using log files for development, but I don't want to balloon the repo with large test logs. I think creating a new repo with logs and then adding a submodule is the way forward. I made an issue about just that as a note to self in the issue tracker last night. Great minds think alike.
