I get to make my very first #Caturday post! Cara was curled up in my wheelchair and I just couldn't resist!

Many of you already know this, but it's now official. In a couple of hours I will be taking posession of an 8-month-old callico kitty! Currently her name is Olive, but I'm going to be changing it to Cara, which is Italian for beloved. I got to hold her for a little bit a few minutes ago and now she's on her way to the vet to get her first shots. She's fixed, so I won't have to go through the howling and youling that I went through with my last female cat. I got all the supplies for her this morning, but I just realized that i didn't get her any treats! But I think this time I've got an animal that will allow me to interact with it, and get a lot of cuddles and purrs along with it.

Sorry everyone but I just have to tell another Cara story before I go to bed. I'm sitting here on my couch with my wireless keyboard in my lap and my headphones on. Cara apparently didn't want me to have my headphones on because I wasn't focusing on giving her attention. So, she decided that she'd attempt to get my headphones off by crawling onto my head, while meowing at me the entire time. This cat is crazy! SMILE!

Cara is turning into a very affectionate kitty. I've gotten the exposed belly more than once now and in the middle of the night she crawled up on me and started nuzzling my ear. I still feel bad having to put her in her carrier if someone's coming over so that she doesn't run out, and for leaving her alone yesterday and again today. Her mews are so pathetic! I thik that most of this comes from the fact that she's still so new and I'm afraid that she'll end up not bonding well with me because of the association between the carrier, and bathroom, and me. I see it as temporary though, until she can be taught how to not run out the door if it opens. She does have a collar now with a bell and a tag with her name and my phone number on it, but I'd still prefer that she not be wandering around the building. But, overall this transition really is working out well.

I just had to give Cara some antibiotics. It's definitely a challenge to keep 4 feet and a mouthfull of teeth out of the way, while trying to get her to open her mouth so that I can get the syringe in and push the plunger. That's almost a two-person job! She's not very happy with me at the moment now though. She slept with me all night last night and she's been my little shadow, but I suspect she's going to stay clear of me for the next little while.

I wanted to share with everyone a product that I just received that may be beneficial to others. After my fall on Saturday evening, the paramedics strongly recommended that I get myself a key lock box so that if anything like this happens again they'll be able to access a spare key. I found one that's completely accessible with push buttons and tactile markings that make it possible to set or change the combination whenever. This is the Master Lock 5422D push button portable key safe. The videos, at least on the Amazon Canada site were extremely helpful and gave me the information I needed to set it up and put it on my door. This hangs from the doorknob, so no screws have to be placed in the walls. Once you open the weather protector on the front you'll find a large button at the top which will slide down to open or close. At the bottom is another smaller slide switch which is your reset button. In the middle, of course, is a 12-button keypad, and all numbers and symbols can be used in your combination. When you first get the lock there's no combination entered, so push down on the slider at the top to open the lock. On the back of the place where the buttons are, you'll feel twelve little switches corresponding to each button on the keypad. If you feel closely, you'll find that there is a tactile arrow on each switch. They are all pointing upward. Take a small tool or flat-head screwdriver and fit it into each of the switches and turn it 180 degrees until the arrow points down. It takes a little bit of doing, but it will work. Do this for each number you want in your PIN. At the top on the inside of the compartment is a little switch. Slide this and pull up on the hasp at the top. This is where you'll attach it to your doorknob. Close the button panel and enter your PIN. This must be done to lock and unlock. After entering the numbers, (and you can do them in any order, so if your number is 1 2 3 4, you could enter 2 1 4 3. As long as all the numbers are entered it will open. If you enter the wrong number, clear it with the switch at the bottom and try again. Push down on the button used to open the box and the lid should snap into place. Close up the weather flap and it's set. Place the hasp over your doorknob and snap it into place, and you've got yourself a very sturdy lock box for a spare key or two. This is the basics, and I'm very happy with my purchase. I haven't had to leave my apartment since I got Cara on Friday. Tomorrow I have to go out. I'm trying to figure out a way to make sure that Cara doesn't try to run out the door as I'm leaving. I don't want to put her in her carrier for the times when I'm out, but I definitely need to find some way to temporarily keep her in here as I'm leaving.

Yay! Sometime last year I was asked by someone at the clinic that I go to for suggestions on how to make the web site more accessible. I gave some suggestions but then the site building was passed on to someone else. Earlier this year or late last year I went to the site because I was checking whether they were open or not due to weather. At that time I noticed that they were using Accessaby, or however it's spelled. The next time I went there I got in touch with the original person I'd been working with and practically begged her to have it removed from the web site. I gave her the common accessibility guideline sites and left it with her. I'm very happy to report that I just visited the site now and the overlay has been removed!

I've created my very first meme. I even took the pictures. I had CoPilot create the picture, but I told it exactly what I wanted it to say and how I wanted it laid out. The alt-text descriptions are from CoPilot, not from me. Hopefully this works.

Well, I did it. I gave up the phone number I've had for close to eight years and I now have a new number. I'm going to be reaching out to people to give out my new number, but if you've had my previous one feel free to contact me to get the new one.

Did Whatsapp for PC just get a major update? I'm currently not able to do anything with it at all. The correct scripts are loading but it's not reading anything.

And the odd thing is that the main problem is in WhatsApp. And it's not the scripts because it won't read anything if I load the default scripts either. I'm having all sorts of weird JAWS 2026 things in other programs, but everything still reads other than in WhatsApp, and my start menu is reading for me.

@mcourcel Okay, Martin! You've really done it this time! This app is absolutely brilliant! I've been looking for something like this for years!

Several days ago I wrote about my WhatsApp for PC not working with JAWS 2026. Today I decided to reinstall JAWS 2026. The odd thing is that JAWS 2026 is not listed in my add/remove programs. I have JAWS 2023 through 2025, but 2026 just isn't there. I never realized how much I use WhatsApp for PC until it stopped working. So I'm going to try to reinstall and see what happens. And it's definitely something with JAWS 2026, because JAWS 2025 reads it perfectly.

I'm looking on Uber Eats to see if any of the pet stores will deliver a cage. The search term I used is hamster cage. One of the options that came up for me is Nuburger restaurant. Is this supposed to be telling me what's really in their burgers?

Yesterday evening someone came over and we built a bowl trap to try to encourage Marshmallow out. This morning she was in the trap safe and sound. She's not happy right now though and she's still trying to escape, but it won't happen if I have anything to say about it.

Could someone please tell me the names of the fourth and fifth Hunger Games books. Asking for a friend, and I actually mean it. SMILE!

I blocked the scammer that I was dealing with last weekend, but he created a new number and started messaging me again today. I don't want to do it but I may have to change my phone number.

@Marvella@dragonscave.space That's the traditional Google Play Store where you can download and install Android apps. For example, you could get the Kindle app and install it. These days it works quite well.

@Bruce I'll tell you what's going wrong today. I can't access my online Social Security account. Guess why? If you guessed that it's because of my phone number change you'd be correct. I updated my number with Social Security, but they don't have the ability to change the phone numbers for online accounts.

The other day I fell for an extremely realistic fraud scam. I will never be accepting any so-called deals over the phone again, but I also want to limit the calls that I get. I had the unknown caller thing turned on for my iPhone, but it kept causing me problems because the traditional two-finger double-tap doesn't accept the call. Does anyone have any idea how this feature actually works and what I have to do with VoiceOver to make it work? I'm just so tired of all this!

@ShariRockz@tweesecake.social @wmj1102@tweesecake.social No ideas, but I'm also only seeing my coins increase in huge increments. I wonder if it depends on how many coins you have? Maybe it gets to a certain point and switches because the numbers are so big.

@TheQuinbox@dragonscave.space Hi. I'm trying to use the auto-update feature and it just keeps looping. it tells me there's an update and asks me if I want to install it. I say yes, and a few seconds later the dialog asking me if I want to update comes back again.

@kellylford@mastodon.social Hello. First, I love the fact that you were able to add Google calendar syncing to QuickMail. I've been using a 3rd-party plug-in to accomplish this for years and it stopped working earlier this year when I added several exchange emails to my Outlook. I was wondering though, would it be possible to set a default email address or calendar? I've been using QM to keep my calendar up to date, but I have to manually switch the account to Gmail with every appointment I add. I'd love it if I could just say that I want Google to be my default calendar but not as my default email. You've managed to create a powerful full-featured email client that really is quick and easy to work with. Also, would it be possible to add the ability to set a default mailbox on start-up? I may be the only person left on the planet who doesn't care for the integrated inbox that shows all the messages from each account. I've always kept them separate so it just feels weird to me. Thanks!

@Bruce Ah. BTW, whatever card we were using for Shaw isn't working and Shaw wants their money. Apparently we've got an overdue balance, but I never received anything from them previously so I don't know.
