@Tutanota@mastodon.social The Digital Service Act states that providers should not be incentivized or required to collect and process excessive personal data or exact tracking info just to assess whether a user is underage. While at the same time, age verification is recognized as a tool to mitigate systemic risks affecting young users. So which is it?

@EUCommission@ec.social-network.europa.eu I'm not really sure what exactly you're celebrating here. I can't even buy from a small business in europe because they cannot reasonably be expected to adhere to how every single member state implements 2025/40. Fix your garbage regulations first (double entendre, lol)

@kauer @mojo Each vendor will have to request #Wero individually, provided their payment service offers it in the first place. It's gonna be a slow adoption process I'd wager. 🫤

@pr06lefs @Tutanota The fact you need an up-to-date, un-rooted, safetynet enabled Android or iPhone for most banking apps is one of my biggest gripes. We can have administrative privileges everywhere, just not our phones? What a cruel joke

As a #EUCitizen living in a fellow Member State, I have never watched as much TV (from my #HomeCountry) as I do now.
Before, it kinda felt like the #TVstations at home don't add much value, but if I want to hear my #NativeLanguage now while staying in the loop it should be a no brainer, but there are too many #barriers in place!
You can't do it legally. Trust me, I've tried.
Aren't we supposed to be one #union?

@Okanogen@mastodon.social Instead of volume, the focus must be on stability and predictability. (e.g every new solar park must come with a battery). Grids must be modernized with better interconnects. Commercial as well as home(!) usage must be monitored by grid operators to react faster. Better long term storage solutions (days instead of hours) must be funded. I'm not against renewables and I'm not for more home surveillance, but it's also not as simple as solar/wind/hydro good, natgas/coal/oil/nuclear bad.

@BototmnisShorter @amorablackrose Sure, you can look at this through rose tinted glasses, but let's be serious about this for a moment. Mind you, I'm not against sex work, but it has to be regulated to some degree. Otherwise human trafficking is very likely going to increase, which would be even worse than what we're trying to solve here. But with regulations you create hurdles and with hurdles some people will be left behind. You can't solve this for everyone... so again, what do you suggest?

@amorablackrose Okay, so how do you want it implemented? There's the nordic model where selling sex is legal, but buying is a criminal offence. This still pushes sex workers underground because otherwise there are no buyers and landlords fear brothel-keeping charges. Then there's full legalization creating massive bureaucratic hurdles while still pushing people underground because even when it's normalized, barely anyone wants to have "sex worker" on their résumé when looking for another job.

I wasted so much time on badly moderated forums, I'm burnt out on them. No, the answer "I don't know what I did, but now it's working" isn't a valid solution. I'm also not going to find the answer on page 81 of 217, because most forum searches are not that great unfortunately. There are some ways to make forums more useful, but they all require moderation and effort, which, let's be honest, will probably be handed over to an AI anyway.

SentinelOne researchers Vitaly Kamluk and Juan Andrés Guerrero-Saade presented the full analysis of fast16 at Black Hat Asia last week. Fast16's core binary has a compilation timestamp of August 30, 2005. Stuxnet's C&C infrastructure was set up in November that same year.

@BototmnisShorter @amorablackrose "No regulations" requires an even playing field among nations, and we're far from this in almost every metric. There will inevitably be variations even if something is implemented globally... and it's human nature to exploit those gaps unless we put some "ground rules" down. Again, I'm not saying there's no issue or to "just live with the status quo", but ignoring problems that had cropped up when sex work was actually legalized is borderline subversive.

@EUCommission Last time I checked, deaf / hearing-impaired, or mute individuals "can" also use 112, but each country treats them differently, often encouraging them to use a dedicated App or other services / numbers instead. Has this been streamlined already, or is this still as opaque as it used to be?

@rbreich@masto.ai To vote where I live you get assigned a number for a district. You show that number and a valid ID at the booth before they cross you off the list and hand you a ballot. If you can't make it there in person, you can vote by mail, but you have to request a mail-in ballot beforehand. How is this arrangement controversial? Because only eligible people get assigned a number?

@clmerle@mstdn.social To be fair, you can recycle plastic (at least a couple times until the polymer chains become too short). The problem is that as soon as you mix plastics the whole batch becomes useless. Burning it isn't ideal, but still better than letting it sit outside until UV light breaks it down. That's how you get micro plastic. On that note, people throwing garbage on the ground or into rivers should receive capital punishment.
