We will be scraping AI out of our culture like asbestos for decades to come.

I bought it in the end.
It is a fascinating dive into all sorts of text games from the 50s up until the last couple of years. Proper deep dive: interviews, reviews, maps, how things were programmed and why.
Currently reading about “A Mind Forever Voyaging” by Steve Meretzky published by Infocom in 1985 for the delightful price of $44.95

“Wealth inequality is the most common and crucial element of societal collapse. It corrodes the social fabric… hollows out societies, leaving them to be a brittle shell which can be cracked asunder by numerous different shocks.”
Luke Kemp, Centre for the Study of Existential Risk
Everything you would expect from a Massive Attack / Tom Waits collab.
The new Tron Ares Divergence NiN album is way better than the official Tron Ares Soundtrack.
Too many hospital adjacent things going on with family members at the moment.

#Libraries are one of the few public spaces where you're allowed to exist without the expectation of spending any money. Support your local Third Place. They’re dwindling.
Dragged this out of the attic. Needs a new ribbon, but it’s fully working.

I am very much enjoying my beginners course in Aikido.
A day mostly in the garden. Weeding and mowing paths through the wild. And sitting and taking it all in. A lot of sitting.
I have taken to my bed. With biscuits. Will be here for some time.
✨ CREATIVE UPDATES ✨
After a time away, I have been reflecting on my projects and which ones i feel important enough to carry on through the year:
- http://bookhouse.uk is still up there, hit a stumbling block with the rewriting, but the ADHD focus is still around. Just simplifying it a lot and taking out almost all of the sidequests. Hopefully, the first one will come out Midsummer.
- going to move my commonplace book / digital garden out from the place it currently is and stick it on its own URL. It is useful and important enough to me as a tool and assistant to my creative endeavours to have that, plus it detaches it from any projects.
- i am probably going to retire my creative studio Sparkwood and 21. Its been good to me since 2009, both as a fulltime studio outside of Amsterdam, to a part-time studio on a narrow boat in Bristol. I have other ideas that don’t fit into it. I may keep the site up one way or another, and I might return to it again. But, its in read-only mode for the forseeable future.
- i don’t seem to be doing much music. Which I am finally okay with. I am sure that creating music will come back into my life, i am just not going to force it.
- i have been reading too much about the KLF. It has given me ideas. Currently wondering if these ideas have legs and can walk unaided.
Again, caveats, the real world is dirty and messy and terrifying and things keep going wrong and there is only a certain number of hours in a day. And hug your loved ones. Tighter.
Xx
Things have all been a bit bonkers and up in the air over the last couple of weeks. Hoping today is a calm one and then i hope a restful weekend.
And hopefully, i haven’t spoken too soon.
Hello. Yes. I would really like to not take a family member to A&E any more please. 5 times in 2 weeks is plenty, thank you.
