Man, what you can do with tools is so much more interesting than the tool itself. I don’t care about what product you chose to buy, I’d much rather see what you’ve created with it. I say this with love, as a recovering tool-obsessive person myself.

I love how much faster my @OpenBSDAms@mastodon.bsd.cafe vps is than my previous, Hetzner-hosted one. I wonder why that is? The previous one was in Finland, which is farther from London than Amsterdam, but surely not *that* far to be noticeably slower to respond.

But this is really great. I'm hosting my RSS reader (Miniflux) and it's just a joy to use when it's so snappy. Makes me want to selfhost more stuff. What services do y'all selfhost?

Didn’t take a pic of the dish but here’s the recipe for today’s dinner #theGalley

I do appreciate that the UK allows me, a foreigner still, to vote in local elections.

Man these kpop documentaries are wild. It turns out that being an idol is much like going to the office and working with your team, except instead of Slack and CI pipelines you get dance practice and people telling you off for your weight

Just accidentally came across this legendary performance of Silent Jealousy by X Japan at the Tokyo Dome in 1993. This is their big hair era, Hide doesn't have his signature yellow-with-pink-hearts Mockingbird guitar yet, and yet, what a show! When the time for the guitar solo comes (3:15), bro just stands there and absolutely _shreds_, and the Dome blasts the fuck off into the stratosphere. Incredible stuff. RIP. https://youtu.be/3kUZcms1ygs #theStudio

Oh hey it’s #KpopMonday and the theme is #WorkHard. Loosely related, here’s the absolutely insane MV for Aespa’s “Rich Man”: https://youtu.be/5oQVTnq-UKk

Very much enjoyed reading this post from @eli_oat@tenforward.social: https://eli.li/the-seed-beneath-the-snow as well as the posts it responds to. If you work in an organisation that builds software, it's especially worth your time.

Turns out American Mother’s Day falls on exactly the same day as Taiwanese Mother’s Day. What are the odds?! I wonder what’s the story there!

From my friend:

"Get absolutely fucked you fucking fuck" is emotionally satisfying but it's not a documented Article 21 objection

Can't get these lyrics out of my head somehow: "pause for a second like comma, put the fear to bed, pajama" 🤪 #boompala

What footwear do y’all recommend? My Allbirds sneakers are on their last legs (feet?) and it’s time for something new. Would prefer something durable and comfortable, easy to put on is a big plus with kids.

Has making a list of the unclean ever worked out in a constructive way? Asking for a friend

Oh that is pretty grim

My wife tried to ask me questions from “the hardest” KPDH quizzes and the only result is that I found that two of those supposedly hardest quizzes had some answers wrong!

Cortis are such a fun group! They performed at Lollapalooza recently, here's the full show: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H9-rEbwbotA #GoshaDoesKpop

Diving into the Beastie Boys these days. I didn't know them so well besides the most famous tracks (thank you @glass@typo.social for pointing me at them in response to my recent BTS blog post). Paul's Boutique is quickly becoming one of my favourite albums! https://youtu.be/Y90N5XsasN0 #nowplaying #theStudio

Hi Merveilles! It's been a lovely run of seven!!!! years!!!!! on this gem of an instance, but I think I'm ready for the next step in my fediverse adventure: I'm going to self-host a single-user instance.

My new home is at @gosha@fedi.gosha.net, I'll redirect this account there shortly. I'm grateful to and for all of you. See you over there!
