This is just a personal chitchat account, strictly politics free. I have politics filtered.

I'm currently into embroidery, some computer games, kdramas (only watchable stuff on Netflix recently), books, gardening... crochet... beading? Maaaybe digital art?

I follow stuff that interests me, you don't need to follow me back!

My apologies for the politics~ :/ There's been a bit of an overflow. I'll try not to.

@fesshole Every boss is like this, except most think they know what is going on and are actively sabotaging the work. Not sabotaging is already a lot more work than the negatives everybody else goes into.

Aliexpress just tried to age verify me with "third party" to see some crochet hooks...

Context: no age verification needed here for anything whatsoever and... crochet hooks? Were they dildo shaped?

@maxleibman@beige.party I'm not personally connected to any trans people (unless they are in stealth mode, which is imho more likely than there not being any around here), but I AM personally connected to people that would like to police what other people are allowed to do with their own bodies, and let me tell you, those people are nasty. And won't stop at policing trans people. They need dealing with.

Hyssop and regular basil (mix of colors) started to sprout when I just checked for fun - took them 4 days instead of the two weeks listed on the packets. Now how can I resists checking every five minutes whether something else is feeling in a hurry? #gardening

@GinevraCat@toot.community @Hellybootwader@mastodon.scot I fixed my glasses with gel nail polish (the kind you have to UV on and then it becomes really hard, unlike the normal polish which will wear off easily). Just sand down the edges so there's nothing's sticking out. I have the full shebang for the polish because I used to do my own nails, but imho getting clear top coat and a hand held little lamp helps with a LOT of small repairs around the house :D (same for the needles imho, but in that case sand down from the tip onto the rod part then put polish there. Edit: you can actually do it for the price of a uv top coat if you stick the thing out on the sun for a few minutes instead. Don't do the repair outside tho.

@bazkie@beige.party Don't you have a million cheap/midrange perfumes in drugstores? They might not be as good as actual quality perfumes, but at least let you figure out which direction you want to go if you look up the main scent in them. Here you can just spritz as much as you want on yourself (and then be sick on the side of the road later if you are sensitive like me lol)

@bazkie@beige.party Go multiple times and smell a small number of things every time, from whatever catches your fancy on first look (the bottles are usually pretty well fit to the smell, idk how to describe it, designed to attract the same people who want the smell inside). You can't do it any other way imho, unless you are already searching for a known ingredient. Don't try to smell more than 4-5 every time or if you do, don't trust your findings and go back to re-check with a fresh nose later. It gets overwhelming quickly. This is a thing that happens to every single person, so don't be discouraged by it. Then the way I found my favorite perfume (Pure Musk) was by inserting all the million different things I kinda liked on a web page and it spit out "musk" as the ingredient they all shared.

@DelilahTech @brettezeleliquide Not really, this works because it's only a single thread missing/damaged, the rest is just unraveling and can be hooked back together. Then they add that missing thread. It also should be secured from the other side, which is not shown here. When a sock gets damaged, it's usually a whole area being worn through. It's sweaters that damage like this (you catch a thread on a hook/nail and it rips), though if a sock gets caught on a nail, it could be done like this I guess...

In the second case it's not safe to trust it. Either way, there's no practical use.

@beecycling @greene I think there need to be some birth centers with pleasant midwives (practiced, licensed), place for family members to gather and all the woo-woo, meditations, candles, music, whatnots with actual doctors not visible but on duty in case stuff goes sideways. There's a reason women don't like giving birth in hospitals, far as I can tell the whole thing is highly traumatizing for everybody involved, doctors are often downright sadistic, dismissive and care is professional but kept to the bare minimum, that at a point in a woman's life where she's probably the most scared she ever was and will be. That's why shit like this can proliferate, the comfort it gives outweighs the possible complications.

@MagentaRocks@mastodon.coffee Amazon now says it will be about two months to ship here. Idk if I should order it or wait a bit and see if somebody gets it quicker... :/ I'm only on book 3 of the reread though so it can probably wait. Just ordered the other books too (in book format, had them all in e-book), so maybe I'll start from scratch from those, once they get here?

@kimlockhartga My part of EU had spring weather for almost two weeks now (15-20C), and it was supposed to change back to colder this next week but apparently it will not. I'm pretty sure the frost will be back though, the spring weather usually comes earlier and it's frosts this time of the year (so the exact whiplash weather you are describing), but idk what's going on with the warm weather being late and whiplash (forecast and we are prepared) is not happening yet. I'm afraid it will happen too late and then it will take the fruit that flowers later and usually avoids this :/

@LifeTimeCooking @perkinsy We currently have 20C during the day and -1-3 during the night, annoying :D Winter will probably return full force, once everything starts to bloom, as is tradition... at least we found some stuff last year to spray on the fruit trees so the flowers don't fall off. Worked last year, hopefully will work again, because this warm spell every year for at least a decade now always kills off everything.

@RickiTarr@beige.party @sennoma@chaos.social Some of it always goes that way. But it's not necessarily a bad thing either. I think getting exposed to the absolute best art the most talented few people all the world around can come up with is one of the reasons art is starting to die out. Why would you paint something when you can see how it's "supposed to be done" and know you'll never be able to get that way? It's only in the very recent years that this is an issue, a few decades ago you could get some stuff over in magazines and before that, you could maybe visit some galleries or cathedrals and see some stuff. If you had a lot of money, you could visit more of those. But for the majority, art was what local people around them could come up with, and that was, for quite a lot of them, very achievable, so they would happily try and make some themselves. They didn't have access to the great painters, so painting some stuff on their walls was nice. They couldn't listen to the best musicians, so whatever the local band played was nice. The greatest things they ever came across were achievable and could be improved upon. That's something we lost already, and I'm not sure AI won't actually help with it, against all odds: handmade is already often preferred to perfect, and once you can't tell perfect from AI, it might become even more desirable, who knows.

@sennoma@chaos.social @RickiTarr@beige.party I don't think getting rid of professional artists will do much anything about art being made. People make art all the time for no other reason than that they want to fuck around with stuff. What could destroy art is if people no longer have the time to make it (resources will always be found). Whether it's taking away free time or by sitting everybody down to get stuff beamed at them.

She needs help finding the X button on a browser to turn it off, but she sets the damned oven clock in under ten seconds and I can't for the life of me replicate that. Car radio will rearrange itself when coming into contact with a phone. Which will happen about right before it needs to be set back to original, because I don't usually turn the electronics on in it...

@LifeTimeCooking @perkinsy But also take back production for a bit. I'd let it grow and turn red (or whatever it will turn to), and then that will show what the usual size is and next time it can be picked at around that size. Or else they grow pretty quickly for a bit and then not so quickly and then stop before starting to turn colors. So when growth slows, that's also showing the end size. And if it starts growing a large amount at once, all will be smaller. Aaaand I could never use enough of them to actually taste in food lol, that would burn my mouth off. I guess people have higher tolerance of heat than me, usually? :D
