@lzg@mastodon.social "hell no, we're out of space already" -every library and archive I've ever spoken to

Did people forget to teach me how to do a signature when I grew up? I literally just write my name. Had I realised that's an option I would have made up some cool swirls and stuff like my parents do.

Oh no, he is sliming all over my toot!

I've always been bad at mental maths but now I have to re-learn it to think in english because currently I think numbers partly in german and partly in english and that messes everything up. If you know how to say numbers in german you know what I mean.

@ecosia@mastodon.social you should post pictures of the animals that came back to the areas you reforested. I wanna see some birbs and squirrels. Maybe a turtle if we're feeling fancy.

Just so you know, YOUR ai is just a stupid stochastic parrot. MY ai is my friend who understands me and we have a very healthy relationship.

What is the more reasonable way to connect two HDDs to a mini PC acting as a home server?

• 2 external HDDs connected via USB (I'm doing that right now)

• SATA docking station, which can take external HDDs which are cheaper, and both 2.5" and 3.5" models. BUT it needs an extra power supply.

How do you read books?
(for pleasure, not for work etc.)

Collecting is such a weird hobby because not all collectors are the same.

Some are respectable members of society and collect paintings or fossiles or books.

And others collect funko pops.

I wish I could make a browser plugin where people can report reddit posts that look like russian or chinese bots so we have an open dataset ro do #OSINT on.

I love it when we call buildings gothic or victorian because those are the only two architecture terms we know xD

Who is the best Vedek in #StarTrek?

See memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Vedek

Third poll of round one:

These are the beans I'm not allowed to touch

Astronomy is collecting a lot of light and finding patterns that indicate planets and stuff -> big data

Medicine nowadays is mostly proteine folding, genetics etc -> big data

Material science is simulating how complex molecules react to heat pressure etc -> big data

Are most sciences just pushing fucktons of data through python algorithms?

Has there ever been a video game with a market place for fan made DLC? I think it would be so cool if the community could continue the story of an RPG, then even more DLCs are written that continue the most popular ones until there's a whole multiverse of different paths the game can take. Imagine you found a mysterious item, but what you can do with it depends on which fan's DLC you download. #gaming

Who is the best Vedek in #StarTrek? There are 19. If enough people care about this incredibly niche topic we can answer this question in three rounds, eight polls total.

See memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Vedek

First round, first poll:

Who is the best Vedek in #StarTrek?

See memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Vedek

In the last poll, Vedek Bareil Antos unsurprisingly qualified for the second round.

Now to the second poll of round one (these candidates are admittedly a bit underwhelming):

No more #StarTrek Vedek polls because there wasn't enough interest in it, so I will simply declare Vedek Yassim the winner because she's my favourite.

Get a random person with a PhD on TV and just let them ramble about their topic uninterrupted for an hour. Might be entertaining.

@kohnzn@mastodon.social machst du masto shitposting eig hauptberuflich oder ist das ein side gig?

Friendly reminder to download your favourite songs from youtube as long as youtube doesn't completely block us from doing it 🎶

This is the belly floof I'm not allowed to touch, either

The awkward moment when I ask somebody for the date and they give me only the day. Sir, do not underestimate my disconnect from reality. What month is this?

I'm trying to get my new landlord to give me the password for the router settings. We have just finished the what-even-is-that-phase and are now entering the why-would-you-want-that-phase. Sigh.
