This one was designed by amazing Mina Fina (of Ee group fame) in collaboration with the artist, and printed, glued and hand bound by our all-time collaborator Maruša Hren.

⁂ is called an asterism. In astronomy, it refers to groups of stars in the sky, akin to constellations. We suggest that it’s a very fitting symbol for the fediverse, a galaxy of interconnected spaces which is decentralised and has an astronomically-themed name. It represents several stars coming together, connecting but each their own, without a centre.
Economics is political. The “neutral” rules of the economy shape who has power, who gets protected, You can vote, work hard, do everything “right”, and still feel stuck. That’s not a personal failure, it’s how the system is built.

i found that personally it makes a huge difference if my basic materials are very nearby so i can speedrun through ideas and structure and embellish later. that holds true also for muscle memory - fast keyboard shortcuts, organized collections (of samples or synths or fx and presets) ... THEN what matters is listening within - as intuitively as possible hearing in my head/heart for what it would feel amazing after that intro.. once I have a (musical) idea (transition, new element, removing a layer, etc), holding onto it and put it down on the timeline calmly but not sitting onto it too long. i love breaking the rules and expectations, to play, to have fun. also there are no rules... use chord progression from the internet, and making it own by changing elements. mileage is crucial here. working daily makes such a difference. perfection kills creativity.

The stated goal of many organizations in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) is to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI), an imagined system with more intelligence than anything we have ever seen. Without seriously questioning whether such a system can and should be built, researchers are working to create “safe AGI” that is “beneficial for all of humanity.” We argue that, unlike systems with specific applications which can be evaluated following standard engineering principles, undefined systems like “AGI” cannot be appropriately tested for safety. Why, then, is building AGI often framed as an unquestioned goal in the field of AI? In this paper, we argue that the normative framework that motivates much of this goal is rooted in the Anglo-American eugenics tradition of the twentieth century. As a result, many of the very same discriminatory attitudes that animated eugenicists in the past (e.g., racism, xenophobia, classism, ableism, and sexism) remain widespread within the movement to build AGI, resulting in systems that harm marginalized groups and centralize power, while using the language of “safety” and “benefiting humanity” to evade accountability.

Jim Fassett presents this album as "In this recording you will hear an orchestra of singing birds". He composed it with sounds of chirps, whistles and whistles manipulated with tape in very unexpected ways.

so, yesterday I plugged my linuxMint laptop into Pioneer DJM900 A9 (?) dj mixer with a standard USB cable and there there were - 8 inputs, 4 stereo channels in PipeWire to which i could assign outputs from 4 decks in mixxx.
this is actually a really good mixer with number of very useful effects (and beefy and rock-solid crossfader)
it just means that although mixxx export to usb for Pioneer DJX players is still not possible I can still request this mixer and just plug my main laptop directly and not need to carry any audio interface and/or controller.
well, need to remember/get back to controlling loops and cues and beatmatching and all that via keyboard shortcuts, which i was doing years ago on the regular anyway. and maybe - since my new laptop has a touchscreen - create some touch interfaces with TouchOSC.
