Pastel Reservoir: This song was inspired by artists of the dark folk genre, such as Thurnin, Vishal Naidu, and Ulvesang. The song was a gift for my girlfriend, since when we first met we would listen to dark folk music while studying. Although I don’t think it’s nearly as good as what the above artists have made, I’m still fairly happy with the result, especially since this was my first attempt at making a song in this genre. Also, the cover art is supposed to be a pencil sketch of mac and cheese noodles, but depending on how you look at it, it may look more like poop. I should have put more care into the art. https://constancies.bandcamp.com/track/pastel-reservoir #bandcampfriday #folk

It’s that time again! If you haven’t heard Dundee-born Elsie MacDonald, you should! Go ahead and give an emerging alt-folk singer-songwriter a try. Elsie is well known in the Edinburgh scene and beyond for their emotionally impactful performance style, creating intimacy with audiences in shared spaces. Shamelessly posting as her proud mum!! #BandcampFriday#Folk #QueerPunk #Music https://elsiemacdonald.bandcamp.com/album/pulling-at-the-common-thread

Taiwanese history: "Who now stands before me like a ghost within a dream? (Within a dream) When did come the day when things became not what they seem? (Not what they seem) Outside of this palace where my loyalties to lie (Where do they lie?) For the gods or demons with but one I choose to die (I choose to die)" I decided not to put a CW, but there is some violent imagery in these videos. This week's #JukeboxFridayNight theme is #history. Perfect for my love of folk. Here we have The Diggers Song, or The World Turned Upside Down. I’ve chosen Dick Gaughan’s version, which is less angry than Billy Bragg’s but has a bit more gravitas I think. #DickGaughan #BillyBragg #Folk #FolkMusic "The World Turned Upside Down" by "Dick Gaughan" from the album "Handful of Earth" - listen here —> https://musiccloud.io/srEZGlmA More about The Diggers here if interested https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diggers

It's Bandcamp Friday, which means all the proceeds for each sale goes directgly to the artist! This Friday, I'm proud to present my 2nd fulllength album I made back in 2006, Phoenix Door . You know of Black, queer, alt-folk singer/songwriters now, but imagine doing that in the 90s - 2000s? Unheard of! Yet, I did it, and I like the result to this day. This album is way diferent than my current work. This is definitely in the alt-folk, singer/songwriter vein. Nevertheless, this is where I truly began doing more intense multi-tracking, playing every instrument and being true to what the each of these songs ought to sound like. If you like OG singer/songwriter music, alt-folk, adult alternative, (imagine a band made up of Jill Sobule, John Hiatt, Donnie Hathaway and Sly Stone) then please check it out and share it with your friends! #indie #music #diy #alt #folk #bandcamp #BandcampFridayhttps://incrediblealibi.bandcamp.com/album/phoenix-door

I like #classicrock, #hardrock and #heavymetal, especially from the late 60s and the 70s. But sometimes I listen to very different genres, from #deathmetal and #folk to #classicalmusic. I love walks in #nature, especially when there are blueberries and blackberries to pick along the way... and #mushrooms to find! 4/5

Sounds of Malawi Vol.1 https://amf.didiermary.fr/sounds-of-malawi-vol-1/ In 2024 Los Angeles recording engineer/producer and record label director Harlan Steinberger spent ten days at Jacaranda Studios in the outskirts of Blantyre city recording as many Malawian artists as possible. Steinberger had been coming to Malawi since 2009, working with artists and producing previous albums from Keturah and The Kasambwe Brothers, but this trip […] #Malawi #Folk
