Remembering when my dad, in an effort to scare me into getting better grades, would tell me I could just drop out and get a crappy job at McDonald's and live alone in a little one bedroom apartment, like, as a threat; now I'm like "motherfucker where are these mythical 1br apartments I can afford on minimum wage cuz I went to college and I've been in the labor force for 25 years and have to live with three other adults to afford a place and am STILL LIVING PAYCHECK TO PAYCHECK
We've got the means to feed and house every human in Earth but NOOOOOO we had to make a computer that lies
I have a dear friend in Portland, OR who is about to be wrongfully evicted from their home. Is there anyone with a couch or a spare room that might be able to help them out for a little bit? They're a kind person and a brilliant artist whom I've known for over 20 years, so I can confidently attest to their character.

A talent is being able to bend your thumb to touch your own wrist; the artist you're failing to compliment spent years learning and practicing the skills they used to make the thing you're enjoying.
My employer: management has zero training on working with neurodivergent people, is constantly non-compliant with basic labor laws, outed me as nonbinary to my coworkers (including the ultra-conservative misogynist queerphobic ex military guy with rage issues), has employees that have been here for months that haven't yet been set up for basic things like clocking in, still has cokehead employees without forklift certification driving around like hell on wheels, and so much more batshit malicious neglectful idiocy
Also my employer: "we expect a level of excellence from our workers that matches our own."

Boss just told us we're doing mandatory 10 hour days this week and also a Saturday shift and I just wrote him to tell him que "no."
Coworker walks over to ask me for help with something he didn't need my help with. He sounds HELLA sick, congested, sniffling, probably with a sinus infection two other coworkers had. I say "hey, are you sick?" and he goes "haha, probably, yeah" and then proceeds to get in my personal space and waste my fucking time while huffing bacteria on everything. No mask, no self-awareness.

I regularly go to this Mexican place up the street with GREAT food, and they always ask me if I want some of their salsa and I always say no, and they always give it to me anyway. I think they are of the opinion that their salsa is really good, but they are wrong because it is in fact peppery orange water, and I don't understand why they are so proud of it, because it is the most aggressively mediocre thing they offer.

I'm saying we need a system that doesn't reward psychopathy, PoetsOldBones states that the current system is designed for harm (psychopaths love that about the current system), and Amoshias is saying we need a system that fails well, which--correct me if I'm misinterpreting--suggests a system with better failsafes in place, for example maybe a system that is a bit more psychopath-resistant..?
