Gotta love when people skim a text, fill in the gaps between the words with their own assumption, and then argue against those assumptions. I mean, at least *ask* before you argue.

The other day, we went to a book shop. A young woman walks in to employee A, and says she'd read this book, gives the title, and goes on about how much she loved it. I mean, the racial scapegoating isn't a different mechanism, it just targets other people for more basic, economical reasons. And at a much higher level of abstraction, ultra-nationalism is no different: it blames "otherness" based in nationality rather than skin color or cyber shadows.

TL;DR is, I learned a lot about the dangers of overdosing (no animals suffered in this). Which always makes me think about how likely it is for people who would use it on themselves for weird reasons to also get the dosage right, and what that means for their brain health.

The list of characteristics are in some sense only a collection of tools that ensure the underlying mechanic works, which is to disenfranchise larger parts of the population and consolidate wealth and power in fewer hands. On one end is "everything I dislike is fascism", the other end contains a gazillion minutely different definitions of fascism. I'm interested in the point just before this branching off happens, which I think is probably fairly close to what we also "intuitively" understand as "well enough" defined fascism.

@Uair@autistics.life @selzero@syzito.xyz In either of these cases, though, you get people in a more tightly controlled environment in which fear of punishment for deviation makes folk fall in line. And then you have a much easier time selling gold plated turds and filling your pockets. I don't actually think fascism is mechanically distinguishable from other situations like this. It's mostly distinguishable in being played out at the nation state level, and so choosing a version of control tools that work there.

This isn't to say that *all* such tools are *completely* rubbish, far from it! They mostly appear to be bad at making the task of maintaining reasonably large bodies of documentation painless for small amounts of maintainer hours. Which predominantly means having multiple disparate sources of documentation, pulling them together, and building/updating multiple different artifacts out of them.
