Another interesting-looking #cyberdeck build. This is more of a desk terminal, with a small CRT and has a bit of a Space: 1999 vibe going (in my opinion, anyway)

Somebody put together a “Virtual OS Museum" as a VM image with over 1700 operating systems installed - going back as far as 1948 (!) You can install and run it on Linux, Windows and Mac (and anything else that supports a recent version of QEMU or VirtualBox):

Totally loving this Alien(s)-inspired #cyberdeck, the Typeframe PS-85: https://www.typeframe.net
The builder Jeff has posted a bill-of-materials and build guide at the link above.
There's an article about it on the Raspberry Pi site: https://www.raspberrypi.com/news/typeframe-ps-85-cyberdeck/
Here's a different #cyberdeck: it's powered by a MacBook Neo motherboard, which gives it a lot more oomph than your usual Raspberry Pi cyberdeck.

Looks like the designer is off to a good start. I'd love to see it built into a custom case.
New #blog post up! I go over some of the inspirations for my first cyberdeck design (work in progress):
#cyberdeck design log #1: https://strangelyentangled.com/blog/cyberdeck-design-log1/
I'm quite happy with the two effects I added to images in my blog. Some scanlines and magenta flickering really tie the whole cyber blog together (if you ask me).
One thing I want to try and avoid with my #cyberdeck is the overly wide / not-very-tall LCD panels that are common with many raspberry pi builds. I get why they're popular but in my case I want to be able to view web pages, or open properly-sized terminals. Vertical height is important to me.
Aiming for a 16:10, 3:2 or 4:3 aspect ratio.
Also, I picked up a pair of XReal 1S "AR" glasses as a possible display option for my cyberdeck build. I might review them for my first video.
Been quiet lately. Just ridiculously busy with work. This week's project: setting up a PeerTube instance so I'll have somewhere to post my upcoming cyberdeck videos (oh yeah, did I forget to mention the upcoming cyberdeck videos? Sorry... ridiculously busy y'know!)
I was going to write a blog post today but turns out I'm spending it making sure that none of my production systems ever download rsync 3.4.2 or higher. sigh.
I know the #blog's been a little quiet over the past 3-4 weeks. I've been utterly swamped with work stuff, and haven't had much time for #cyberdecks. But that doesn't mean that I haven't been thinking about them. I have some new ideas & some new inspiration.
I will be writing it up tomorrow or Tuesday. Assuming that work doesn't intrude (the hazards of self-employment: there is a lot of bleed-through between work life and home life, especially when work & your hobbies have a strong overlap!)
