At the moment, this is the last missive I'm posting in this format. I plan on changing it up a little bit next week. So this is that awkward moment where you're happy with what you've published, but you're too excited about what's ahead to care.

@onpaperwings roughly 330 linear ft. I still don’t know what a “linear” anything is, so I don’t know any more than that

Replying to

@richardthebrave@mastodon.social thank you so much! That’s kind of you to say. I have a looooot more to come on stylescapes, assuming I can get it all done and posted. But if you had specific questions, I’m happy to share anything I can :)

Replying to

@richardthebrave@mastodon.social I doubt you're dying for an update, but I figured out how to share more stylescapes in the future. Once the new site is up, there will be in-depth essays on certain projects with loads of WIP images, including the stylescapes. Just won't be in the newsletter any time soon, so wanted to set your expectations if you were waiting :)

Replying to

@stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social I am less certain Spencer leaving is bad news. He has not helped Xbox much in the past 10 years. Just when they started releasing exclusives that maybe could have helped, he put them on his biggest competitor. The Xbox platform is filled with advertising and gotchas. It’s just not enticing anymore. And that all happened under his tenure.

Replying to

@leon@peoplemaking.games @stroughtonsmith@mastodon.social I don’t have the impression he knew what the issues were, outside of the One launch. He kept the bad names, released exclusives before they were ready, cancelled everything the fans were looking forward to, and botched the Series generation entirely. When he finally righted the exclusives ship, he made them multi platform. Every decision he made was bad.

Replying to

@jensimmons@front-end.social a lot of the new CSS stuff has been coming so fast that I worry I won’t be able to keep up. Filters, shapes, if statements, and functions in CSS?!? I need so many explainers.

Completely reposition and rebranded my studio's newsletter today and I am stoked on it: https://wildfirestudios.ca/blog/kindling-36-shrinking-moats

Kindling 36: Shrinking Moats | Wildfire Studios

Most brand exercises ask where you want to be in twenty years. A better question: what threats will shrink the moat around your brand in that time?

Got writing this week about brands aren't logos, and aren't really something we control. They're something we create together with our customers. They're sort of symbiotic: https://wildfirestudios.ca/blog/studio-missive-34-your-brand-is-not-your-logo

What is a good iPhone app for feeding and diaper tracking for newborns? I want it to sync between parents. I have tried My Baby (it’s ok, too many taps), and Huckleberry (despised this).

I want it to be an elegant app that’s super easy to use and made by a developer who clearly cares. Like if the people who make Things made a baby tracker.

I am doing some science. If your microwave has a number pad, please try and share the following:

1. try to turn it on for 90 seconds. Does it count down from 90, 1:30, or throw an error?
2. similarly, try to turn it on for 290. Does it count down from 2:90, 3:30, or throw an error?
3. and the brand of your microwave please

Nothing makes me sadder than reading a long-running blog that is now written in Claude’s tone of voice. So gross.

@jsnell@zeppelin.flights there is technically the thrash metal band Exodus, so they’d probably need to be renamed Leviticus while you’re at it. Or is it Numbers that comes next? (I think it’s Leviticus?)
