I make visual effects for movies and talk about movies a lot.
"2001: A Space Odyssey" (1968) has the most dramatic, most famous match cut in the history of cinema.

my favorite "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode
20 years ago today “Mission: Impossible III” was released, with visual effects by Industrial Light & Magic.
We sneaked R2-D2 into a shot, and here it is.
What a dreadful place we are in where a mega billionaire says something like “You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens. I promise you.” and not be shamed by the culture and the people around him into making a public apology the very next day.
“Spider-Noir” is now playing on Prime Video. I recommend watching it in black and white.
A ton of very creative people worked for months and months on the visual effects for the show (of which there are a LOT) but you wouldn’t know it by watching the credits.

THIS is how you make mainstream franchise entertainment that also has something to say
the 'film is superior to digital because of film grain' folks: "Film grain equals cinema!"
Christopher Nolan: "I want the least film grain possible."
Watching “Fight Club” (1999) with a first-timer.
my star-wars-feature-film streak ended this weekend with 7
