The rain has brought forth beauty #Bloomscrolling
I recently learned about wire wrap connections. They're fast, easy, strong, and make good contact. Developed by Bell Labs for early phone switching, by they 50's it was a standard in electronics, and was later used by Apple and IBM in their early computer prototypes. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wire_wrap
This seems totally ideal for #diy #electronics projects and prototypes. Plus, no soldering iron required!
Fun fact you may not know, my 15 minutes of fame was 10 years ago. And Stephen’s producer DM’d, asked to use my picture. Sure, and I sent a high resolution version. Watching Colbert live later that evening, it blew my mind to see my face on screen. That was WAY cooler than meeting Taylor at jury duty. #Colbert #colbertlateshow
Just got back from middle school STEAM night. I did "Analog Synthesis: The Science of Sound"
“Learn how electronic music was made before computers, using electrical signals instead of digital technology…”
This went so well! I brought a 2600, Grandmother, and an oscilloscope. We did R2-D2 sounds, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Stranger Things, etc. A teacher let me borrow a big DIY subwoofer and we rattled the windows of that 8th grade math classroom! Haha! #steam #synthesizer #science
Kind of an awesome #sunset
Just a periodic reminder, there is a Mastodon instance for citizens of #nashville http://nashtodon.com

After 10 years of Fitbit and Garmin, I’m back to a #Pebble ⌚️. Feels great and I love the e-paper display
I’m so sad. My favorite #nashville haunt, 12 South Taproom is closing. It was the last remaining laid back spot for great food, drinks, and music - the rest of the businesses on 12th sold out or were forced out for tourism ages ago.
Thank you for 15 years of laid back hangs with friends and neighbors!
Theres a collection for the staff while they’re between jobs here. https://www.gofundme.com/f/we-had-a-good-run-support-our-staff
And a decent write up on its legacy of music here in Nashville. https://www.wmot.org/roots-radio-news/2026-05-08/pouring-one-out-for-12-south-taproom-and-micro-music-scenes
A photo from the Saturday NEMS meetup (Nashville Electronic Music and Synthesizers). Great turnout, and some neat stuff people are working on. I brought my most recent revision of a portable eurorack kit, in it's 3D printed case, seen in the bottom left. Somehow I walked out with only one photo, so the others are from an electronic performance at the same venue on Thursday.

I couldn't be more excited about these 2 #eurorack modules. Thanks to #lookmumnocomputer for the killer hardware. I wish him luck on EuroVision 2026!
WSM AM tower. When it was built in 1932, it was the tallest tower in North America. #radio
Another killer #sunset in #nashville tonight! EOC tower near Belmont University in the 2nd pic.
Ham radio convention flea markets are a gold mine for #retrocomputing
Went to a joint in East Nashville tonight, asked for a Manhattan. Bartender had never made one, it was her first. She did a pretty respectable job.

Incredibly satisfying to watch
a VCO that looks like it can shake the paint off your walls AND can actually shake the paint off your walls. #ericasynths #eurorack #music #Bleeps

@tedzanzibar@mastodonapp.uk I almost switched my order to a round because it looks so much better but figured I would give the square format a try for a little while and see how I like it. You’ll have to let me know when you get it.
First Light is a special event worth celebrating for any camera or telescope. This time it's both, with a Dwarf Mini smart telescope. Taken from a parking lot, I sat it on the roof of the car and started configuring/capturing.
The image is Pleiades, a star cluster 444ly from earth. While I only had about 5 minutes exposure time, it was a good #firstlight
Note - included before/after processing. Note the satellite trail. #dwarfmini
I’ve always liked the intro to The Spy Who Loved Me. Escaping the bad guys by skiing off a mountain, pulling the rip cord to reveal the Union Jack in the parachute. Just awesome. #jamesbond

@schamspeare@mstdn.social this particular meet up wasn’t modular specific, I’ve been thinking about setting up a modular coffee meet up or something, where we might pass around a clock signal or something else and try to actually make a jam. Sounds kind of fun.

@sdether@mas.to I got gas on my hands recently and couldn't get it off and was annoyed and grossed our for almost 2 days. How did I work on cars before? Maybe I used to like this smell?
Also, I bought some chemical gloves for future handling. Bleck.

@ariaflame@masto.ai yes it’s the new Dwarf Mini. So far I’m really enjoying playing with it!
