Giving the Adventure Bike™ a deep clean this morning has been *extremely* satisfying.

@berto I guess we've been living in the Year of Linux on the Desktop for years, and we didn't even know it?
Anyone in Sydney know of a passata press (ideally motorised) that I could borrow or hire for a weekend late next month?
My partner had a passata making party for her birthday last year in Melbourne and we were keen to do it again, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere that hires them out in Sydney?!
Boosts appreciated!

@phooky@hexa.club @Edent@mastodon.social I built a business management web app based on XML for data storage and XSLT for presentation in 1999. It actually works quite well for transforming document-like markup, but it also has a functional-like programming model, so maybe not everyone's cup of tea.
That app is still in production today, luckily not effected by Google asshattery because the presentation transformations are all done on the server side, and all the browser has to do is render the resulting HTML, as usual.

@Mastodon@mastodon.social do you have a non YouTube link for the video so I can watch it?

@mttaggart To be fair, this is an excellent low pass filter to help avoid getting hired by slop factories.
Happy May Day to all those who don't use GenAI.

@didoesdigital I was literally just having a discussion with my partner about whether mandarins were in season in NSW, and of course this excellent data viz made it immediately obvious that I was very, very wrong. Ta! :)

Actually to avoid burying the lede, am interested in automatic floor plan feature extraction and detection (extract walls, and fixtures, detect doors and ovens, etc). Maybe using OpenCV or other off the shelf techniques and/or FOSS libraries where possible.
Any pointers or good leads appreciated, boosts also welcome. :)

@veronica what's the old saying, again? Debian for the policy, Arch for the wiki, and Gentoo for the CFLAGS.
There's an OpenStreetMap Social Mapping Party in Parramatta on April 30 if anyone is keen to go. I've never been to one but thinking about it!
Who knew that women were effectively banned from racing bicycles in Australia until the 1980's? I sure as hell didn't.
There's a talk coming up about the ban in Sydney next month: https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/beyond-the-ban-celebrating-womens-racing-in-nsw-sport-cycling-1958-1980-tickets-1987028318189?aff=edm

@NewtonMark@eigenmagic.net Pretty sure the truth is the other way around - being conservative makes you grow old.

@qgustavor@urusai.social @Mastodon@mastodon.social Yes, quite literally same here. I can't see any Instagram content either because I don't have an account there.

Also why do they have YouTube vids on every page of their docs - is the actual documentation that bad? And why do they all seem to look like C-grade influencers?
