*Exciting sportsball news. No fans in the stands or hotels
*Elite cybercrime forums overwhelmed by slop. This is fantastic

*How many "bugs" can some finite chunk of code possibly have? Will it ever run out of bugs? Can models just invent new forms of bugs to patch indefinitely?
*I'm assuming he just made this up, because this is what he himself imagines he is doing whenever he's killing time in social-media. #fearless #truthwarrior #oligarch #techbro
We Joined a Secret Ukrainian Robot Mission to the Front Line
*It's seems a little presumptuous for an Apple operating system to just unilaterally classify ChatGPT as malware and dump it straight into the trash
*It's fun when music is 50 years old and still sounds intensely eccentic and peculiar. It's like guzzling 50-year-old whiskey and getting completely looped

*Although I'm not in business and I lack "competitors," this seems like something any consumer or shopper probably ought to have

*Who is it that you imagine is tooting all this bizarre Mastodon fodder, using the Bruce Sterling name
*And if he's that good at it, why would you believe me if I claim that it's "me"

*Who else wants to pirate Chinese chips and loudly pretend to have built them
*Seems like a trend with legs, really
*The long-haired digirati are losing their composure here. There are those who are wannabe-Luddites, and others who have the moral necessity for Luddism thrust upon them

*Girlie cyberdecks
*This is really an odd article, given that it' seems to be mostly about cute purses

*I have no problem believing that Chonqing is a "cyberpunk city," but what are these inflluencer women trying to achieve with all this handwaving English on Youtube here

RE: @sqwabb@mstdn.ca
*I don't think that Claude is the big problem with this speculation about the origin of invention. There are metaphysical problems about names for "inventions" and how clusters of functions and materials are identified and singled out as being "inventions"
"What is a "multitool," for instance, what was the "first" one:
*Sir Walter Scott, the anonymous author of "Waverly," namedropping "Geoffrey Crayon," the pseudonym of Washington Irving, and speculating that "Waverly" and "Crayon" may have even met
*Irving was the disciple of Scott, and Irving did meet Scott in real life, but that arch drollery is pushing-it. What the heck is even going on there
RE: @TomF@mastodon.gamedev.place
*What is the oldest existent work of music that you would consider as weird as this Prodigy video
*Which I would cordially agree is pretty old and strange, but not all that strange by The Prodigy's generous standards
*I blame apocalyptic science fiction dystopias where somebody threw in an upbeat slop-metal soundtrack
*Indo-Chinese solar power struggle
*Trying to get Claude AI to outguess the histories of technical inventions
*I don't believe all this stuff, but this is quite an interesting exercise and might be helpful for design fiction
https://www.construction-physics.com/p/how-long-do-we-wait-for-new-inventions
*Scott is arguing his case like in a court-of-law here, but he actually was a lawyer and magistrate, that was his lifetime day-job
*He also wrote nonfiction histories, like his bio of Napoleon. Not one of his better books. It sold a lot though. It was hard to beat for topical
"Am I writing fiction about historical events in their strict and harrowing accuracy or am I a patriotic bullshit artist who writes world-famous hit novels," not exactly a new creative problem for the worthy Sir Walter
