(Lo so è imperdonabile)

Me ne dareste un po'?

https://git.lattuga.net/jones/ (programmetti vari)

https://pixelfed.social/ahi/ (foto)

@janvenetor@mastodontti.fi @dbattistella@mstdn.ca Also, «Nobody, of course, claims that the beginnings of agriculture were anything quite like, say, the invention of the steam-powered loom or the electric light bulb. We can be fairly certain there was no Neolithic equivalent of Edmund Cartwright or Thomas Edison, who came up with the conceptual breakthrough that set everything in motion. Still, it often seems difficult for contemporary writers to resist the idea that some sort of similarly dramatic break with the past must have occurred. In fact, as we’ve seen, what actually took place was nothing like that. Instead of some male genius realizing his solitary vision, innovation in Neolithic societies was based on a collective body of knowledge accumulated over centuries, largely by women, in an endless series of apparently humble but in fact enormously significant discoveries. Many of those Neolithic discoveries had the cumulative effect of reshaping everyday life every bit as profoundly as the automatic loom or lightbulb.» (from "The Dawn of Everything, by David Graeber and David Wengrow)

Brav* :)

[...]
Incidono dunque i conflitti in corso.

@administrateur@gayfr.social i see that you request some lines of presentation from those who want to sign-up to your instance; do you use Anubis also to mitigate sign-up requests spam by "AI" bots that are able to write such presentations? In this case, how much does it work? Also, i remember you linked a post on your blog with details about your Anubis setup; could you please link it again? I can't find it now.

@dbattistella@mstdn.ca «Choosing to describe history the other way round, as a series of abrupt technological revolutions, each followed by long periods when we were prisoners of our own creations, has consequences. Ultimately it is a way of representing our species as decidedly less thoughtful, less creative, less free than we actually turn out to have been. It means *not* describing history as a continual series of new ideas and innovations, technical or otherwise, during which different communities made collective decisions about which technologies they saw fit to apply to everyday purposes, and which to keep confined to the domain of experimentation or ritual play. What is true of technological creativity is, of course, even more true of social creativity. One of the most striking patterns we discovered while researching this book – indeed, one of the patterns that felt most like a genuine breakthrough to us – was how, time and again in human history, that zone of ritual play has also acted as a site of social experimentation – even, in some ways, as an encyclopaedia of social possibilities.» (from "The Dawn of Everything", by David Graeber and David Wengrow)

#ColorManagement #Linux #AskFedi #BoostsWelcome

My laptop has a monitor with pretty terrible color reproduction—it has a greenish tint. I've configured Xorg to load the monitor's color correction profile from the right ICC file at startup using xiccd, and this significantly improves the colors in all applications. However, many applications (all the ones i use for photos, graphics, video editing, etc. —RawTherapee, GIMP, Inkscape, Geeqie, etc., but also Firefox, for example) offer an additional option within them to apply a monitor color profile to the images they display. This can be the “system” profile—in my case, the one loaded by xiccd when Xorg starts—or another one from a different ICC/ICM file. If i enable it with the “system” color profile, the colors of the images within the applications change further, but shouldn’t it be enough to apply the color profile to Xorg, which already changes the colors in all applications? I'm worried that by applying the same color profile first to Xorg as a whole (and thus to all applications running under it), and then in individual applications, i’m actually messing up the colors...
