That is insane.
Layoffs is one thing but doung a small one before a big one means someone in leadership massively fucked up.

@tuomas_h@mastodon.social Still ahead of Chrome. (below)
Fun fact: in designing Edge for Windows 10 I took screenshots of every single browser and made sure that the UI exactly met or beat the tightest of them.
I was so stubborn about it I refused to use the proposed system button size because it made the ui too tall and horsey. The controls team gave me shit about it, but then ultimately changed the sizing of all controls to match and that's how I saved hundreds of millions of Windows users an extra 4 pixels.

I also have taken to doing this. Far superior to any other thing I’ve tried except raw ear-ing it and getting a tiny bit deafer

I think its in line with their string of decisions to minimal-ize all of their iconography. macOS icons shoved into boxes, iOS icons turned monochromatic, etc.
I am more upset by the too-long name that is getting compressed and cut off. What happened to their crisp writing and naming?
@dandean@indieweb.social
is this anything

single-minded groups will not be dissuaded from inventing a ‘reason’ for what they already decided to do.
it's just pretext, or in this case, post-text?
Your great sin may have been exposing that to them and others.
(also, I love this story, malicious compliance)
Today I am announcing a pivot away from being a designer and I have invested fifty million in investors calories into a poop manufacturing plant.

This seems to have worked?
I don't quite trust it yet as I've attempted this several times before but everything is showing up correctly!

@evan@cosocial.ca I guess Americans designing and building bombs and Biden giving billions of dollars of them away to enact the genocide isn't “exciting” enough

I admit I was a little offended that they offered a color version. But I appreciate the experimentation!
And I very much appreciate Nic Cage

I always thought it looked like a submersible in the best way possible.
The opening door was so awesome (even if 95% of the reason you did so was to show off that you could 😄)
I remain undefeated in my face-computer skepticism.
the words thoughts and actions of billionaires take up far too much of our time, thought and discussion
That time should be zero.
(Because billionaires shouldn’t exist)

oh dear
you *might* have a chance if it's a slightly old model
Will there ever be another run of great tv like TNG -> DS9 -> Voyager

I want to see less of my browser chrome and I want my browser to do more to help me browse (and store and save and organize)
I don’t think any browser makers are doing any of this anymore.

I created a few features like this once and I wish they had spread.

Thank you so much for this work.
I cannot wait to see broad adoption. This is light-years better than 'balanced’ which is anything but pretty!

It’s a bummer. They’re so great at world building and fun and weird mechanics but then their engine just looks like it’s 15 years old.
