@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza I'm late to this one, but we have a TB, Wendys, and most recently Popeyes. Cant be bothered with the other two, but Popeyes slaps! I honestly can't bring myself to bother with KFC now.
I can't answer for how each franchise compares, I've only eaten at 2, but they were both excellent. Fingers crossed for you!

How about sorting your dark mode styling?

@alex@pawb.fun all the more unfathomable that he created such a service with no (documented) attempt at making sure the service is safe.
Why is it 2026 and people who should know better are still releasing (federated!) social media functionality without including, conversing, or considering marginalised and abused people?
And if your default is "they can opt out", just stop altogether.
I genuinely thought the fediverse was a new slate to avoid repeating the mistakes of mainstream social media, but its still straight and/or white and/or men assuming they know all the answers.
So tired.

@FediTips@social.growyourown.services We need a separation of Mastodon the software from Mastodon the service provider, it's an awful confict of interest.
They have the resource no other instance has, so there is no pressure to add better moderation controls that appreciate and respect the federated nature of moderating non-flagship instances.
An alternative to avoiding using the app to access Reddit,and it's by far the simplest, is to not read Reddit.
Honestly, fuck them?
You're legitimizing all the shitty stuff they've been doing for years, and you keep being surprised they eat your face?.
Stop. Using. Reddit.

Today I learned that my understanding of tmux is backwards. It is not a client that connects to a server, it is a client that can run ON a server, and that is how sessions persist.
Grateful to the good humour of the people at work that explained this to me, and also the individual who spoke up to admit they had the same incorrect notion as I did.
I can't put into enough words what a difference a healthy work environment makes to my day.
@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza ahahahahahaha amazing

@Lewie_Kong honestly sometimes I see the stuff I keep and am grateful for whatever wiring my brain has that decided to a) record it, and b) keep it forever!!

Also retrieved were a subset of my cassette music collection.
With such highlights as The Monkees, Bruce Willis, Paul McCartney, Gloria Estefan, and a 4 track recording of the garage band "Rebourne" featuring me on guitar.
I have much to transfer to my PC so we don't loseevidence of possibly the worst Ozzy Osbourne Black Sabbath tribute act the world barely saw! (Shoutout Rob, Del, and Em)

It's quite something that, given the entirety of world data that LLMs are trained on, that any code-based agent should need to be told

@MLE_online took me scrolling this far to find what we called it 😄 my mum usually told us the real name too, but i've no memory of that. Just money.

@tim I honestly expected more backend support in the tool that rose from the awful administration of other common social media platforms.
Maybe Gemini can create an effective admin tool for mastodon :(
@Lewie_Kong@retro.pizza bloody cool, mate!

@emkingma If I had more time and patience, I'd investigate some truly offline alternatives, but my family aren't as tolerant of geeky unpolished solutions, so for now I'm not paying a subscription at least.
#Ring #doorbell has been replaced by a local-only alternative for less than the cost of my annual Ring Subscription.
And #windows NTFS partitions have been mounted by #Bazzite allowing me to recover the dregs of the data I forgot when I buggered up the attempt at dual boot.

I agree with everything you observe, the cycle is both predictable and all too frequent.
What concerns me the most, and I will pick on Mastodon here as the predominent platform, the devs do not sufficiently consider safety as a priority, nor seemingly as a factor in their design decisions. It feels like it would take a fork to properly implement safety mechanisms to counter the apparent race to "help build engagement".

I have utmost respect for the hard work if the devs, but I read the public roadmap and see barely any feature that relates to safety or accessibiliy.
I don't doubt it is going to be an aspect of some of the work, but read the original post of the thread, and where do we think anything is being actively worked or planned for that could alleviate the problems, for users or admins?
@jerry
Another forthcoming #Mastodon update, another attempt to appeal to people entirely too tolerant of shitty billionaires.
They added search, and quotes, and *still* they hang around with nazis and transphobes?!
Tweak the pinned posts, that will do it :sarc:

I'm a linux terminal newbie, but yes I understand it is like screen. I've found myself using a terminal more each day, and becoming a big fan of how customisable it can be.
I'm also learning there are benefits to a native terminal that tmux somewhat negates, but the combination of neovim, tmux and ghostty and all the peculiar keybindings has been mindblowing 😂
Stimming my way through Dragon Quest Builders 2, and yikes the bizarre storylines and characters that crop up really do mess with me.
