This #ThrowbackThursday we time-travel back to 2008. I painted a mermaid with some butterflies, heavily inspired by the song "Pretty Fin" by Pati Yang.
From my 2010 mini Moleskine: studies of items that I own. And a guy that I saw outside the grocery store, balancing a shovel on his head. Yes indeed!

Today, it's a 2010 study of what used to be my favourite pair of shoes. I miss them! I still have the purple & orange bed cover, though.

This was my first time ageing up characters! They're 21 originally. I hope I did them justice.
The two swallows are a reference to the game, though you may need a keen eye to catch it!

A little #ArtTip from my latest Ko-Fi post:
When working digitally, the typical cube or triangle colour wheels don't do a good job of showing the brighter hues intuitively. Here's a little trick: switch to the L*a*b colour space. It shows colour relations in a more natural way and it's much easier to adjust the sliders and get a good result.

@ashenwave@mastodon.art Yeah... I guess I understand that part on a logical level, but it's also nonsensical to me.
When Bsky was new, I tried to strike up a conversation about how social media designs affects behaviour. Didn't get far with that. It makes me sad when I go on Bsky and see people still talk & act in abrasive ways, like on Twitter, and it just strengthens the negative loop!
"Big numbers" can be beneficial to a degree, but ultimately it's so meaningless.

My fit for the new Nikki story - we steampunk now! It's kinda fun because there's an entire city with automatons that you can ride and start/stop with the new abilities. :D

It is the best for fandoms, but even then people tend to move the conversation to Discord (and, to a lesser extent, the communities). I find that original art can find its audience, but it's very random and you kind of have to get lucky with the correct tags or catch the eye of someone with a really big audience (which sucks lol).
