curious what #developers are using for display on #Linux? I made the transition to #wayland from #x11 several years ago but the #remote access is still freaking frustrating.

Proud of the Python Software Foundation for withdrawing its proposal for grant funding from the Nation Sciences Foundation due to onerous anti-DEI requirements:

Found this article quite interesting: https://news.ucsc.edu/2025/09/smart-device-ai-bioelectronics-speed-up-wound-healing/
It's interesting from an AI perspective because it uses a camera essentially embedded in a bandage to send rapidly collected images of a wound (continued over time) to an AI which evaluates the stage of the wound and how it is healing and which then has the device apply appropriate treatments.
I was surprised to see that the treatment it applies for anti-inflammatory is fluoxetine (better known as prozac), thought it had to be a mistake but confirmed in other articles that fluoxetine apparently has anti-inflammatory properties.
In addition it uses an "electric field" which apparently encourages cells to migrate in a way that facilitates wound closure. 🤔
I've been using ClickUp for a few months now...and like every other productivity tool I've used over the last number of years it has its pros and cons.
It's got a lot of features but sometimes pretty basic features don't "just work" - and that makes me unhappy. 🙁
For example, right now I have some recurring tasks that will not allow an update to their due date manually. If I set a new date it resets back to the original date. Even more concerning is that this isn't clear from the UI.
The UI acts as if the change was successful but a page refresh reveals the change didn't save.
But the real reason I wanted to post wasn't about ClickUp particularly but about chatbots in general. They verified that my issue was an actual bug and created a ticket for it but the way I've been instructed to view the ticket status is by opening the chatbot, telling it I want information on my ticket (pasting in the ticket ID) and after doing all that I get this
5/6: Umm, no. I want to see an actual ticket please. I don't want to have to talk to a chatbot to see it. Chatbots really are great for a lot of things (during the free trial of ClickUp I found the chatbot quite helpful in learning how to do things without searching through docs) but this sort of "there is a direct record", please no. Or let me paste it in and do the lookup immediately - and provide a permalink so I don't need to chat every time!
I'm sticking with ClickUp at the moment, but one of these days when I magically get a large amount of free time, I'm going to write my own solution...I've only been saying that for a few years now. ;-)
when it comes to #psychology and #mentalhealth I've read a decent number of #books on the topic.
I think the best I've read are:
- David D. Burns' Feeling Good (CBT generally including anxiety, depression)
- Sue Johnson's Hold Me Tight (romantic/marital relationships)
- Peter Kramer's Against Depression (on why depression is not a creative gift or sign of moral incompetence, biological underpinnings)
Peter Rutter's Sex in the Forbidden Zone has also been instrumental in forming my understanding of the unhealthy ways romantic interest manifests.
Anne Wilson Schaef's Co-Dependence: Misunderstood--Mistreated is the best I've read explaining how "being good" can oftentimes actually be bad.
The latter two are both more things I extract from the books rather than the books themselves and both are couched in ways that make them not ideally suited to the topic...but still the best I've found.
In addition one might include Joel Fuhrman's Eat for Life (I'm reading it now, I originally read Eat to Live) for nutritional health (which affects psychological) and David Allen's Getting Things Done (still one of the most influential books I've read on productivity).
My #question is, are there books you've read that you'd considered "must reads" on psychological / mental health? Not just mental illness, but mental health?
#ChatGPT is killing me a little bit with the way it loads Projects. It doesn't seem to cache them on the client so every time you try to view your projects it loads them bit by bit...and it's painful.
Is anyone aware of a ChatGPT client that downloads projects and perhaps has other functionality I'd be interested in? 🙂
At an upcoming conference I'll be giving a lightning talk to entrepreneurial ecosystem builders on how leadership in companies can work effectively with their technical team.
For my fellow techies - I'd love to hear from you the biggest pain points and successful methods you've found for working with non-technical leadership.
I'd also love to hear from non-techies the same. What are the biggest pain points and what successful methods have you found in working with your technical team?
(I have my own thoughts ;-) But I really value hearing from the wider community!)

this is mainly for me: https://github.com/davidshq/forgetfulme
I've vibe coded it - expect code quality to reflect this.
It's a browser extension for tracking what one has read. Its kind of Diigo, Memex, etc. but much more limited.
I wanted something that I could shove stuff into without having it clutter what I want to save in systems like Diigo, Memex, Raindrop, etc.
I want to be productive but I should also go to bed before too long. Resisting the urge to code or be productive 😤
The projects functionality in chatgpt shows promise but lacks some basic functionality - e.g. sorting, reordering, nesting.
Is anyone aware of code out there to manage / override the projects UI?
I've done some basic vibe coding but haven't had great success.
Strange to me, but they only show a few projects at a time, you have to paginate through them and the API grunts about auth.
I see some projects on github, etc. but I'm not seeing anything focused on projects particularly.
