I've been with my partner for nearly 4 decades, so I never experienced (suffered?) the phenomenon of dating apps.

But when I'm in a coffee shop and there are a man and woman on a first "get acquainted" date at the next table, it's often hard to keep myself from shouting

"Dude, shut up for a minute and LET. HER. TALK!"

Seriously, do men really think it's appealing to talk about themselves non-stop for 45 minutes? It must be exhausting for women to feign interest for that long.

(The guy at the next table today is still listing the places he's visited around the world and his reactions to each of them. 🤦‍♂️)

In my mind, the "west end" of Ottawa is Hintonburg, West Wellington Village, Westboro, etc.

Places like Kanata, Kars, or Stittsville are western suburbs.

"[blank] end" for a city implies some degree of urban walkable/wheelable sidewalk/storefront continuity, not a community 20–30 km away connected by a freeway and unreliable bus service.

Hot take: I think the Canadian federal opposition parties would secretly appreciate a Liberal majority right now, so that they could make the symbolic gesture of voting against PM Carney's bills without risking triggering an election.

They're currently letting nearly half of the bills pass "by division," where no official opposition party asks for a vote. That lets them try to spin a story that they didn't vote for the legislation. 🙄
