Woke up imagining demented Foley pairings. Horses galloping by, but the sound track is motorcycles. High winds bending the trees, but the sound track is zippers.
Perhaps coffee will fix this.
Second day of e-biking instead of driving for errands. CVS, library. This is good.
That is all.
When it became clear that the Epstein Regime meant to erase me, I ordered a trans-colors knit cap from Etsy, thinking, well if you're comin' after me, let's be clear about who is the target, & why.
I thought the cap would cause some mean looks, but it's had the opposite effect: I go to the library, the librarian is warm & welcoming. At the beverage distributor, the clerk shakes my hand & introduces himself. Hidden reservoir of support out there.
So: feeling lonely? Get a trans cap!
At 6:15 am after taking out the garbage, I return to find my 13-year old son excitedly crossing the floor to check texts on his phone. That done, he slumps into a chair, *appearing* exhausted.
I finish setting up the coffee and retreat upstairs to the office. He *follows* me into the office, looms behind me. "What?" I ask him.
"Can you get me a donut?" he asks.
"Get your own fucking donut! Show the same energy as when you checked your phone." I say.
Not expecting Peter Magyar to be socialist Jesus or anything, but hoping he sees that another path forward has opened, given the vote, and takes it. Reorient toward EU, not Putin.
E-bike home and in service. Already saved one car trip, to the library and back.
A couple dozen of us at the #TeslaTakedown in Devon, PA, this morning. Brisk weather. I loaned an extra jacket to an attendee who'd misjudged the weather.
Afterward, test rode a class 2 e-bike. Decided to get it. It'll be the local errand vehicle.
On this rainy afternoon, baritone sax in the sheltered area of the patio. The cardinals, who are very feisty right now, were not amused by this raspy loud bird, and came to the dogwood to bark and set things straight about just whose bird feeder it is.
Continuing with funky '70s Miles Davis work, here's a jaunty A/B piece from "Get Up With It" called "Mtume," recorded in 1974. Musicians can be found on the wikipedia page; Miles is on the organ, and on trumpet through a wah-wah. Enjoy.
Linux printing question: anyone know what would cause the state "enabled" field to flip to unchecked when a print job is sent? OS is Pop 24.04 LTS, which is based on Ubuntu.
Well ....
What next?
Good luck to the Artemis crew splashin' down.
OK, as promised, here's "Black Satin" from Miles Davis' "On the Corner" (1972). Kinda defies category. You can see the extensive musicians list at the wikipedia entry for the album.
Resetting my mood with some drifting alto work on the patio. Fitting it into the breeze, the sunny afternoon.
Better now.
A hollowing out of locality and authenticity, that's what it feels like, this "agentic" shit.
There's a stiff north breeze out there. Gonna be a brisk one this morning at the #TeslaTakedown. Given Melania's recent antics, I think
PERP WALKS FOR PEDOS
will do as a poster.
On the way back, I'll be kicking the tires on an e-bike, seeing if it's a good fit for me.
So what was Wayne Shorter up to, post 2nd great quintet? Here's "Black Market," from Weather Report's 1976 album of the same title.
