I avoid all apps when possible, run from the mobile browser! Most phone apps are just browser wrappers anyway.

July 18: "Parasite-Linked Lettuce Was Sent to Walmart Stores and Food Distributors in 27 States
Given the lack of details provided by Taylor Farms, CR’s experts advise consumers in those states to discard all iceberg lettuce out of an abundance of caution"

The only two reasons why companies want people to use apps are to collect user habit information for ads or resale, and for direct user interaction (e.g. notifications); those two things are worth more $ than the cost of maintaining two different software approaches--platform-independent web browser site vs. platform-dependent app. You're just giving up more privacy with the app.
I never got on the phone app train, still use the phone browser as much as possible.
There is really nothing about LLM AI that is compatible with liberal/leftward values. Nothing.
Climate change impact, fossil fuels, noise pollution, fresh water theft, destruction of local biomes, scaling scams, deepfakes, inherited racist and sexist bias, misinformation, etc.
Project 2025 has been 53% implemented.

That awkward time of night when I want a snack but eating anything will require me to stay up longer and also brush my teeth again
This is pretty cool 😂
I hate how proprietary e-readers are.
All I want is an Android-based e-ink reading tablet that will load Nook and Kindle and other ebook sources with ease and have a battery life of at least one week when reading for 1-2 hours a day.
Happy No Kings marches day
Oh, apparently e-readers are "moving towards AI" FUCK THAT SHIT.
I guess I'd better buy now or look for older models....
Yeah babyyyyyy
I love the Pandemic board game and wish they continued to develop the computer game version--but it should have been designed as a co-op from the very beginning. :(
I REMEMBERED TO CHECK MY PANTS' POCKETS BEFORE STARTING THE LAUNDRY

AI translations and making suggestions about what to read, voice activation (remember that things like Siri are always on and always listening, which I find creepy), lots more "interactivity" where it learns about you... I just want to read books, wtf. 😂
I just told someone I'm in my 50s
And then remembered I'm not actually 50 yet 😂
WHO IS PLAYING THAT LOUD OBNOXIOUS MUSIC AT THIS HOUR, PLEASE DIE
I hate it when my phone gets an update but there's no information about it online
I'm so damn excited that The Twelve Kingdoms novels are being translated from Japanese and released in the US, in 3 different formats no less! I never expected this would happen. I remember the first effort failed and only 2 books were translated and sold or something.
The #anime was great but obviously not entirely accurate to the novels.
Memory foam is such a scam
Every single review article out there for "the best small phones in 2026" only listing phones with screens over 6 inches is bullshiiiit
Mayor Zohran Mamdani's entire feed is just full of great things and gives me hope that there ARE truly worthy leaders, hot damn.

Oh yikes.
Thomson Reuters (major product Westlaw which competes with LexisNexis) has CLEAR, wonder how often that's been breached.
Need to find a co-op/mp fantasy/scifi CRPG (maybe more combat-oriented) designed for a party of 3. 🤔 Hmmm.
RE: @ScienceDesk@flipboard.social
1) some people had been saying this decades ago
2) capitalism and technology are making the environment exponentially worse
3) climate change, derp
So happy for Hungary

My parents refuse to write a will because "the state has automatic laws for this" and they don't realize that the probate court process is hell....
Figs are so weird.
I mean, I like them in other things, but by themselves....so weird. 😅
Sometimes I watch videos about European and Asian tiny cars and get super jealous
