@molecularmusing@mastodon.gamedev.place yeah,
“Meta used BitTorrent because it was a more efficient and reliable means of obtaining the datasets, and in the case of Anna’s Archive, those datasets were only available in bulk through torrent downloads.”
I wonder if photocopying someone else's copy of a book is also okay when that's the most efficient way to get access to them, given that that's how the technology works
Your periodic reminder that what goes by the name of #AI today has no moral compass because it inherits all the problematic biases and tendencies of today's society which it picked up from the data it is trained on. By using these tools, you are helping to perpetuate and entrench such biases
Is there like a good resource on GUI programming, by which I mean not "how to use the latest framework which is running in electron btw" but actual fundamentals on the theory behind graphical user interfaces and flows and how it all works?
@lumiworx@mastodon.social also "Reduced operational footprint" makes it sound like "We'll fire people in less privileged countries that have fewer tech workers and double down on the ones where there are many people already"?
We’re reducing our country footprint because operating in nearly 60 countries does not allow us to give every team member a great experience. We anticipate reducing the number of countries by 30% focused on geos where we have only a handful of people or fewer.
I've always been sceptical of "side tabs" but I enabled it in my #LibreWolf just now and ykw it looks just like #Thunderbird! ![]()
@addison the quote in question:
One of the worst mistakes the opposition can make is extending contempt for the tyrant into contempt for the tyrant’s supporters. Most of these supporters sincerely believed that the tyrant would be more likely to solve their problems — often real grievances that the opposition had failed to address. Blaming the supporters denies the reality of the failures and reinforces their support for the tyrant.
