New privacy report from the Canadian govt on OpenAI:
- OpenAI failed to get consent for scraped data.
- ChatGPT fails accuracy requirements.
- OpenAI fails requirements for personal data deletion.

Another paper has shown that students who use ChatGPT remember significantly less than students who don't.
This tech is being pushed in schools because it creates a generation of users unable to think without it.

Only 16% of British Columbia Teachers' Federation teachers surveyed thought that AI will have a positive impact on learning outcomes.
89% think that students will become overly dependent on AI.
87% think that AI negatively impacts critical thinking skills.

Pausing AI in schools is a popular position:
"Close to two-thirds see AI more negatively when it comes to the way students learn (64 per cent, up 12 percentage points)."
It's up 12% in the last year, and the more people learn about AI the more skeptical they become, so it's likely to continue to increase.

After 1,900 signatures and months of waiting, we received a reply from the BC Ministry of Education.
They said "it's not our responsibility".
This is another example of federal and provincial governments prioritizing AI over human well-being.
