But there is no Microsoft products on any computer I own. (Soon enough there won't be any Google products either; when I replace my phone eventually I will not have any American software in use.)

You know, when I was young and stupid I enjoyed the movie Brewster's Millions.

Now that I'm old and stupid, I realize that the movie was a pretty disturbing piece of fantasy apologia for accumulative excess, complete with a pithy, middle-class moral that justifies extreme wealth.

Now I want to remake the movie the way it should have been made in the first place: as a horror film, because done properly Brewster's Millions could be an exceptional piece of psychological horror.

In 2020 a killer virus hit the USA, resulting in the end with a formal count of 1.23 million dead. The world excess mortality count of that pandemic wave was about 18 million. The USA has, thus, about 17% of the world's COVID-19 mortality. The USA only has about 4% of the world's population. Yet in the face of this literal megadeaths event, instead of fighting the virus, the USA, on the whole, whined about a few grams of paper over their faces. 🧵 ▶

An ESL job seeker in America is going to absolutely get creamed in the market, especially right now, when their imperfect English marks them as a no-hire. It's perfectly reasonable from their perspective to run their C.V. and cover letters through an LLMbecile to paper over the spelling, grammar, and improper idiom use cases. Of course the real solution is for hiring managers not to be judgmental pricks, but that doesn't help the immediate need.
