I really LIKE the Language Families board!
8- )
I have studied languages in 1 "North American" and 3 of the 4 European families:
-
Uto-Aztecan ( Tohono O'odham )
-
Italic / Romance ( Latin, French )
-
Germanic ( English* , German )
-
Balto-Slavic ( Czech )
I've also wrapped my tongue around words from a few other families:
-
Polynesian ( Hawaiian )
-
Sino-Tibetan ( Chinese )
-
Na-Dene ( Tlingit )
I hope that I can join you all at a future event!
( * English: American is my parental language and I've encountered quite a few of the differences in "British": spellings, vocabulary, & even grammar. :- )

Oh cool!

As a computer software developer/consultant, I find it quite curious at first glance.
-
it looks like each column can hold 1 decimal(?) digit.
-
it has 13 columns, enough to calculate 10^13 (US: 9 "trillion", UK: 9 "billion")
Re: digits: I wonder why the "ones" (lower) registers have 5 beads instead of 4 beads and "fives" (upper) registers have 2 beads instead of 1.
Backstory: Roman Numerals appear to match the 4 fingers (I) and 1 thumb (V) on ones hand. The other hand has 4 fingers (X) and 1 thumb (L). This means that one can count 0-99 on two hands.
Thanks for sharing! I hope that you find some English instructions!
