@meluzzy bear in mind a lot of medicine didn't started as what they are used today, the typical example is viagra was not always about getting erection and it was just a side effect but it was so good at that they decided to use it for that. The fact that it was a diabetic drugs and now is a weight loss drug is because it seem to be better at doing the second one that at the first

@meluzzy so as said their is many peptide the body produce, the scam is not about ozempic because this one is easily accessible, they are trying to sell "miracle" by giving people vial of alleged peptide. There is no short list of what it supposed to do because there is an almost endless list of peptide and their alleged benefit are as wide as you can dream because it a scam so they just try to sell you everything. Lot of them are about beauty or age, the classic alternative medicine route but this time with a scientific sounding layer to it.
Puffin is not an expert and only noticed because she saw reporting of a teenager almost dying to it and some more reporting of people using them without consideration.

@meluzzy not into medical so can only give like surface level of knowledge but thing the body produce to function. example insuline is a peptide from what Puffin understand ? Tthere is a lot of hem the body make for diverse reason but we don't know everything about all of them because research and clinical trial take time. Some laboratory seeing the success of semaglutide (ozempic and before that a peptide used for diabetes) have decided to sell their product directly to consumer without any due process in finding out what short/long terms using them in bigger quantity that what the body produce might cause. So now a bunch of influencer and silicon valley enthusiast are peddling that to in the hope of making a quick buck at the expense of ordinary people, classic scam but this time with injecting product directly into the body with syringe and all the complication it might cause in addition to the unknow of what the peptide if they even have an effect will do.
The fact that people refused to take covid vaccines but are now eager to inject random peptide with no quality control into their body would be hilarious if it wasn't going to mess up so many people life.
On thing that seem kinda interesting but have no proof of is that some of those are targeting symptom of long covid ? We might have the current trend of people trying to inject random stuff in their body just because the world at large didn't take covid seriously and still isn't considering long covid like something that is affecting so many people without them knowing it.
