@whybird@aus.social @guyjantic@infosec.exchange @fesshole@mastodon.social for further context, I grew up in Norfolk and came to the realisation that I was immersed in a dialect that the speaking of made it impossible to sound even remotely intelligent. Hence teaching myself to speak from the BBC.
I’ve now lived in Manchester for well over 35 years but folk round here still say I talk posh.

In (I would normally say “layman’s terms” but that assumes more prior knowledge than is evident, so “layman’s terms” seems a bit condescending) just think “posh English”.or bbc newsreader English if that makes more sense
