He/Him. AI free since 2024. Your friendly local, mostly retired guy. Likes sciencey stuff, cars (especially the electric and/or heavily armoured kind), wandering around in the bush, mucking around with food. Ex electrician, cavalry soldier, salesman, business manager, consultant, public servant. Proud dad and step-dad. Eternally frustrated customer of https://scorpinc.solutions. Regrets the demise of flying boats. Opinions are my own and subject to change.

Dear National Broadcaster.

The richest woman in Australia has no expertise in war, international or domestic law. She is a private person with no qualifications beyond a high school certificate and an inherited fortune.

What she thinks of Ben Roberts Smith is for her private musings. It is not news and there is no requirement for you to publish her missives on it.

I have discovered my local Woolies has a quiet time for an hour on Monday morning to help out neurodivergent types who find that an issue. Low lighting, no piped music, ads or announcements, staff being quiet.

Neurodivergence me bum! I'm just a grumpy old man and I f'king loved it!! Definitely my new targeted shopping time. Anyone in there with their screaming rugrats or shouty telephone calls on speaker and I'm going to be tapping that sign too

Woke up on a chilly morning feeling a bit dishevelled thanks to ongoing manflu. Decided a rich warming stew was required.

So that's how I found myself at the local bottle shop at 10am looking like shit and buying exactly one bottle of cheap red

@PamelaBarroway@mstdn.social @randahl@mastodon.social amazing that us EV owners feel it would be disingenuous to point it out. When I bought my EV five years ago I had no end of friends and even strangers openly critisise my choice, the car, my logic for buying one (drives better and cheaper to run). Now apparently I'm the Ahole if I bring any of that up?

One of the most puzzling parts of the BRS fan club logic is that they are somehow supporting veterans.

Meanwhile, they are inferring the 20+ SASR combat veterans who testified against him are liars who don't understand what its like to do their actual job

Seriously fuck Facebook. All the posts from mates disappeared among sponsored BS and rage bait years ago. I blocked all the family posts because it was a constant reminder that they're racist.

Is there any smart person that can make a bot that reposts Irish Simpsons Fans memes on here? It's the only thing in that dumpster fire I am going to miss

Got an email from a bank, one of the big four, asking me to update a bunch of details. It seems legit, has all the security stuff covered. But it was about a business account for a company I haven't worked for in over 10 years 🤷‍♂️

BEWARE. If you purchase from Appliances Online in Australia they can be pricks when it comes to warranty claims. My recent experience: Vaccum cleaner stopped. Filled out their online form. *crickets*. Called after a week and no record of my report, so they took it over the phone and said I would be contacted in a couple of days. *crickets*. One week later angry Kim calls AOL: "I need you to replace or refund this now" AOL: We don't do that, it's a manufacturers warranty. We will have the manufacturer contact you. Angry Kim: Thats not how the law works in this country, let me talk to someone who can fix this. AOL: There is no one here who can fix this. You have to go through the manufacturer. *Conversation goes in circles around these two points for 10 minutes* Angry Kim: OK, I've had enough. I need an email address because I have to write to your company before I contact Consumer Affairs to complain. AOL: I am putting you through to my manager. AOL Manager: Will you be home tomorrow? We will pick up the item and organise a refund. Take Away: The bastards will dig in and lie blatantly to your face until you mention Consumer Affairs.

Opposition to California's 5% Billionaire tax is insane.

If the average US citizen saved every cent they earned in a lifetime that would have to work around 23,000 years to have $950 Million. That's how much the poorest Billionaire would have after paying the tax.

They are beyond help. The only good Billionaire is a dead one :guillotinedrop:

These things don't work. There have been a number of well meaning yet deluded do-gooders set up these things and no one comes to them. Sinking Commonwealth money into it won't help.

Also, the editors at the ABC should recognise a false authority fallacy when they see it. This is not about 'better care' for veterans, it's Keith Payne pushing his pet brain fart
