It would still be able to perform the stated intended function and prevent this unnecessary collateral damage. The owner's unwillingness to do this makes it seem like some kind of content or info scraping scam. If people are uncomfortable with it then don't do it. You're only pissing people off by continuing to go down your current path. Why do that?

@alice@lgbtqia.space If you make a post in "public" and there are no safeguards in place for the author able to limit who can boost or repost. Then yea, they have the option to repost it. As long as it's a breathing person in control of said account, then I'm all for their right to do so. But bots? Nah. They have no rights. If it's a bot or an agentic AI or whatever they are calling them now. No. The rights fall to the breathing owner of the posting account.

I’m sitting here at Chipotle eating a burrito and drinking a Modelo. I’m by myself cause that’s how single people roll. As much as I love and want to be in a relationship, something that’s greater than the sum of its parts, I think I’ll be okay if I remain single. Access to decent food and cold beer goes a long way. 😂😂

@alice@lgbtqia.space I totally understand and agree with you. There probably needs to be more finite control over posts for the authors built into activitypub. Maybe the ability for authors to flag questionable boosts or quotes to server admins for inspection. The post gets taken down until a server mod looks at it. At least then based on their judgement you can decide to mute, ban, or de federate from said server.
