The short-lived Gorsedda slate quarry. Massively capitalised in the late 1850s as the Bangor and Portmadoc Slate and Slate Slab Company, it closed by 1870. It's nature was best summarised by the words: "Everything that could facilitate the works was produced, nothing being wanted but the slate vein. Hey all. @bermudianbrit@mastodon.online and I have been considering a trip outside of England but inside the UK for some time now, but we're not sure where to go and whats worth seeing. I'm also somewhat partial to a bed and breakfast or similar as somewhere to stay, because I love a little personal touch. :) But equally the world is replete with many such places and I know very few people with personal experience. If you have been outside of England and thought there were things worth seeing and experiencing, pile them on me. We are music people, and we really enjoy history and food, and sometimes we can be convinced to drink the same alcohol. I really like nature, but what I'm used to I don't think is going to be as easily findable in these here parts. For #StandingStoneSunday it's Pentre Ifan from a visit 8 years ago to the day on a wonderful trip to #Wales with some English friends. The fellow checking his phone is Andy Burnham, no, the other one, of Megalithic Portal fame. With another friend, Jon Morris, we were on an adventure to sources of Stonehenge's bluestones. In the process we experienced every kind of Welsh weather. We also saw Michael Parker Pearson give a talk. What a fun time!
