I thought about it, and here are some serious reasons why #CarolVorderman should hold back in the first #ClactonOnSea by-election and let @CountBinface@mastodon.world have the first go. Yes: 1st by-election. The only people left to state a position, as I write this, are the Greens and any other potential unity candidate such as #CarolVorderman.

It's daft to split a 'unity' vote.

Yes, the Count is satirical, whereas Vorderman would be serious. But that brings me on to point 2.

1. #CountBinface would be a far less depressing loss than #CarolVorderman would be if #NigelFarage won.

There's a significant chance that Farage will win, given #ClactonOnSea's past record. Beating Vorderman, whom they hate, would be a feather in #ReformUKLtd's cap.

But they couldn't crow about sticking it to 'the establishment' when they only beat a comedian in a bin; who, moreover, has 9 years of practice turning election losses into pointed sound bites. c.f. Makerfield!

#CarolVorderman & the others need only to step back and let the journalists, desperate for stories, gorge themselves on Farage versus Binface; which will just make Farage look even worse, especially if xe gets cross on camera again.
