WikiProject participants often ask: “How do I find what needs fixing?”
🛠️ Many maintenance issues are already in the data, but turning them into useful clean-up lists still requires the right tools and queries.
This Saturday, Raisha will share how WikiProjects find, prioritise, and execute maintenance work, plus lessons from developing Broomstick and a discussion on tools communities actually need.
🕥 20 June, 10:30 UTC
📅 WikiProjects Days (19–21 June): https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Event:WikiProjects_Days_2026#Sessions
Wikidata would not be possible without the ton of Free Software projects it runs on. Thank you to all the communities and maintainers, who built them and improve them every day.
♥️ to you on I Love Free Software Day! You make the world go round and help us share open knowledge.
And of course 😘 to everyone building Free Software projects with Wikidata’s data.
Thank you for making open knowledge more accessible. Share links to your project in the replies.
🧵 How do we model the world?
How do we do it in a way that’s faithful to complexity yet keeps data useful for application builders?
These questions are at the core of ontology work in Wikidata.
If you’ve ever wanted to dive deep into this rabbit hole, but were afraid of what you’d find, the second iteration of the intensive Wikidata ontology course with Peter and Ege might be for you.
🔗 Apply now:

Attention app builders! 👷
Wikidata now also offers a GraphQL endpoint. It is ideal for integrating simple queries that don’t need the full power of SPARQL into your application.
You can learn more at https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Wikibase_GraphQL
What are you going to build next?

Wikidata stores political data on thousands of politicians across the globe, but gaps remain. Birthdates, positions, length of tenure… facts often exist in government portals and other sources but haven't been turned into structured data yet.
PoliLoom by EveryPolitician changes that! Extracting data and presenting suggestions side-by-side with the source for verification.
