@whitequark @sen Anyway happy to answer questions or point people in the right direction. I don't know a whole lot about the Go port itself, but I know the developer behind it. And I have some experience working with Haiku in long running CI-like setups (the automated package builders, but these use a homegrown system.) FWIW I know that there's a GitHub Actions module for Haiku that just spins up a VM in QEMU on Linux and connects to it via SSH.

(The philosophically astute may notice there is, logically, a third possibility: that "intelligence" is not real but purely illusory. In that case, all basis for morality collapses into nothing, and one's left only with raw power and its totally unrestricted exercise. I find that idea to be so ludicrous, not to mention even more abhorrent, that it's not really worth considering.)

Of course, much of the ("developed") world now seems committed to using "AI", so dealing with people who are using it (or who want me to use it) is basically unavoidable. But having to live alongside people doing grievously unethical things (and who brush off prompts to consider their unethicality) goes back practically to the dawn of humanity, I'd wager. So that's nothing new, though its oldness doesn't make it much less uncomfortable...

@golemwire@fosstodon.org I think any definition of "intelligence" which does not (implicitly or explicitly) include "consciousness", is defining something other than what humans have generally used the word to refer to until quite recently. That is, any "intelligence" that is not self-aware is not really an intelligence at all. But I don't know that it matters because there are in fact no algorithms that can pass the Chinese Room experiment. Same with a full and unrestricted version of the Turing test.
