Future project? Anyways, Manchestershire, England. Biggest thing for me was understanding that I don't need to go fast. Slow down, enjoy. Or further but with less traffic is better. One of the two. Plus pretty much everything everyone else had said.

Not far from two major wildfires. Due to a quirk of geography, we're much less affected than those much further away. A1b Only as pub garden decorations, mostly from the last time the TdF had its Grand Depart in Yorkshire. Next year I expect to see a similar boom in Lancashire.

My beloved partner has just brought me coffee. Life is good. How to deal with this heat? Two options: 1) don't 2) if that's not an option, use an ebike, and stick to the shade as much as possible. I'm lucky that my commute can be half done along a canal, which is a lot cooler.

@ascentale@sfba.social @gbargoud@masto.nyc @bikenite@fedigroups.social#bikeNite #bikeNiteA A5a Lots of crossover, although I'm trying to reduce the number of bikes (getting rid of the pure road bike and the pure MTB when I've got them fixed up) A5b That would leave me with a folding bike, an electric touring/commuter, a commuter, and a gravel/touring bike, so although some crossover, not enough to make me overthink which bike to take.

On the odd occasion I've worn baggy trousers, if they have an elasticated cuff I just pull them up to below the knee. Otherwise one of hundreds of velcro straps cluttering up the shed. I've never tried anything longer than my kilt skirtwise, so no insight to add.

@ascentale @bikenite#bikeNite #bikeNiteA A8 I was in South Wales last week with my caving club. Let's ignore the trauma and bruising from the caving trip on the Saturday. I spent Sunday cycling along the Monmouthshire & Brecon canal. Lots of ducks, ducklings, canal boats, bluebells, and big hills. A lovely chilled day out.

@helenclayton@mas.to it was about 5° first thing this morning. Definitely double jumper temperatures for the cycle into work. My local hawthorns are lying little buggers.

@wlukewindsor @oheso @moira @yantor3d @ascentale @xtaran @bikenite I go for pairs of lights when it's dark. One flashing, one static. My thinking is that the regular change in brightness draws attention, but because it's not that great, still gives plenty of spatial information about where I am.

@pete@masto.hypertelia.com I learnt HTML through a CLI text editor on Vax/VMS Dreamweaver was an absolute revelation. I drew the line at CSS and JavaScript though. Totally unnecessary. I had websites for my university archery, ju-jitsu, fencing, and LRP clubs. Probably less than 500kb for the lot.

Probably worth pointing out that the actual blame lands firmly on the shoulders of those who voted Reform.

@sunguramy@flipping.rocks Have you considered canyoning boots?
